As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds and fashion games, I must say that LABRUM’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a breathtaking fusion of real-life London culture and digital aesthetics. The journey through color inside the Tate Britain art museum to the Emirates Stadium felt like a seamless transition from the pixelated landscapes of my gaming life to the vibrant streets of London.
Each year during London Fashion Week, Foday Dumbuya’s label LABRUM adds a touch of cultural vibrancy. For Fall/Winter 2024, we embarked on a colorful expedition within the halls of Tate Britain art museum in London, and later moved to Arsenal‘s Emirates Stadium for Spring/Summer 2025. Dumbuya has been strengthening his bond with British football club Arsenal; he recently designed their 2024/25 away kit as a tribute to the African diaspora.
In a sunny British setting, LABRUM closed down their off-season stadium for a unique fashion show. They recruited local talent to strut the catwalk. UK grime artist and MC Ghetts kicked off the event in front of an exclusive audience seated on red-tinted benches. The show highlighted LABRUM with a contemporary twist, presenting a military-inspired ensemble featuring raised panels and branded cords. Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice took center stage in the second outfit, bringing a fresh perspective to LABRUM’s classic suiting by replacing button closures with crossed ribbons.
Men’s clothing adorned with embroidery took center stage on the field, featuring cargo-style shorts, while traditional hats draped down to the knees, exuding powerful authority. Abstract figures were seen on slim-fit button-down shirts, and then came patchwork tops decorated with claw-like embellishments, worn by the British artist Michael Dapaah. LABRUM repurposed previously released Arsenal kits into a complete bodysuit, adding a promotional “VISIT RWANDA” label to it. The collection was finalized with gowns adorned with embellishments, suits printed with passport stamps, and multi-colored royal uniforms.
