Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis to Star in ‘The Trip’ Thriller

Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, and Juliette Lewis are the main cast members of “The Trip” thriller, which is being directed by Jorma Taccone.

87North and XYZ Films’ collaborative project, titled “The Trip,” features Paul Guilfoyle and Keith Jardine as well. This production has now commenced in Finland. In this intriguing tale, Segel and Weaving portray a troubled couple who journey to a secluded cabin with the intention of mending their relationship, but instead harbor secret plans to end each other’s lives.

J. Taccone is a member of the comedic sketch group The Lonely Island, formed alongside childhood friends Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer. He collaborated on and directed the movie adaptation from Saturday Night Live titled MacGruber, and together with Schaffer, he directed the musical comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. In this project, he not only co-wrote the script but also appeared as a cast member alongside Schaffer and Samberg.

Segel’s accomplishments span the Apple TV+ comedy “Shrinking” and the HBO series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.” Weaving is most recognized for her leading role in the suspenseful movie “Ready or Not,” and she has also worked on projects like “The Valet,” “Scream VI,” “Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Chevalier,” “Borderline,” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Tim Olyphant played the role of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in FX’s shows, “Justified” and “Justified: City Primeval”. He also made appearances in the TV series “Full Circle” and “Daisy Jones”. Coming up, you can catch him in “Alien: Earth” on FX and the Netflix action thriller “Havoc”. On the other hand, Julianne Lewis starred in “Yellowjackets” and “Welcome to Chippendales”, as well as notable roles in “Natural Born Killers” and Martin Scorsese’s “Cape Fear”, for which she was nominated for an Oscar.

XYZ is bankrolling “The Journey” and collaborating with Kelly McCormick, Lee Kim, and Guy Danella from 87North in its production. Taccone and Tommy Wirkola are serving as executive producers, with Karen Gillan sharing the producer role.

The screenplay for “The Trip” was reworked by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney from the original Norwegian thriller, “I Onde Dager,” penned by director Wirkola, John Niven, and Nick Ball. This film featured Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie in leading roles.

I On Dager is a production of Jørgen Storm Rosenberg and Kjetil Omberg, under 74 Entertainment, and was funded by XYZ together with IPR.VC. Additionally, Rosenberg and Omberg are also serving as executive producers for The Trip.

Segel, sailor that he is, is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Ocean Avenue. Weaving, on the other hand, has CAA and 111 Media as his representatives. Lastly, Olyphant also finds representation under UTA.
