The Resistance is both futile and pathetic.
During President Donald Trump’s initial term, I found myself engrossed in a cinematic spectacle unfolding on the digital screen – a narrative where Hollywood seemed to be in a constant state of turmoil. The dialogue was filled with pleas for his demise and harsh remarks towards those who had chosen to support the real estate tycoon at the ballot box.
Currently, it seems as if the stars believe that the 47th president may imprison them, remove them from broadcasts, or bar them from returning to the country due to their criticism of him.
Recently, Ben Stiller expressed concern that the president might single him out due to this reason. Similarly, up-and-coming comedian Nikki Glaser has voiced similar apprehensions.
The evidence? What evidence?
In my experience, I’ve become accustomed to such outrageous theories thriving like wildflowers on “The View.” Now, it seems these same conspiracies have found their way into the mainstream of Tinseltown.
Stephen Colbert Denounces $16 Million Settlement Paramount Made with Trump: ‘Big Fat Bribe’ for Skydance Mergerhttps://t.co/k71r27vXV6

It’s been suggested that late-night hosts Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are feigning concern about free speech under a potential second term for President Trump, following the settlement of a large lawsuit between CBS and President Trump after an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris in October.
The left-leaning show “60 Minutes” manipulated footage of Kamala Harris’ stumble, aiming to present her as presidential; however, subtle edits were not enough for this transformation, and CBS made an effort to pull it off successfully.
Now, they’re paying up.
Here’s the allegedly deceptive CBS edit—exposed by popular X clipper @Mazemoore, who caught the stunt back in October 2024.

It was undeniably obvious to everyone, and instead of undergoing the “discovery” phase, CBS chose to settle the lawsuit. One can only speculate about what could have been uncovered during this process.
Some critics argue that CBS may have shown leniency, potentially due to the impending Skydance-Paramount Media merger, which is expected to receive approval from the Trump administration.
The influence on the pace of the settlement might have been somewhat significant. However, it barely implies that President Trump was intentionally attempting to silence his media adversaries. In this case, “60 Minutes” may not have carried out proper journalistic practices and seemed to involve themselves excessively in a heated presidential campaign.
On this occasion, it’s important to note that this wasn’t a new situation. Recall the incident known as RatherGate? Similar to that instance, the content in question was withheld – the interview transcript – until after the elections, raising concerns about potential bias.
Nothing to see here, voters. Move along.
In my humble opinion, when it comes to Colbert and his ongoing coverage of Donald Trump, this recent settlement won’t seem to make much of a difference in the years ahead. Colbert, ever the wit, has dismissed the deal as nothing more than a “generous but manipulative gift,” choosing instead to overlook the intricacies of the case.
Moreover, our beloved comedian has been sporting a new mustache lately, which he claims is his humorous way of circumventing Trump’s watchful censorship. It seems that Colbert continues to find creative ways to keep the jokes flowing amidst the ever-changing landscape of political satire.
“How are they going to pressure Stephen Colbert, if they can’t find him?”
So stunning. So brave.
Stewart, a key figure in shaping today’s highly polarized late-night scene, extended an invitation to Steve Kroft, a former “60 Minutes” journalist, to disregard incriminating information side by side on his program.
As a film enthusiast might put it, it’s all about the honesty in reporting that mattered most to them. Strangely enough, this pair seemed less bothered when mainstream media collaborated with President Joe Biden to hide any signs of his cognitive decline.
(Then again, so did Stewart.)
The liberal entertainment news platform TheWrap.com emphasized these concerns, basing their argument on conjecture from a lesser-known news outlet managed by ex-CNN left-leaning journalist Oliver Darcy.
Weird. But it gets worse.
In a similar vein, Colbert and Stewart, along with other progressives, stepped aside as Cancel Culture escalated within their circle. This cultural phenomenon led stand-up comedians to tread carefully with their words, lest they face professional consequences. Classic sitcom episodes were even removed from memory due to jokes deemed inappropriate or offensive by some.
After the release of Dave Chappelle’s controversial Netflix comedy special titled “The Closer,” he experienced a physical attack. This move sparked outrage among the liberal community. In another instance, Dr. Seuss, an author known for children’s books, faced book bans by his own publisher, while late-night comedians found humor in this censorship.
Actions taken by some on social media and digital platforms have led to suppressing criticism, removing individuals due to differing opinions, and causing artists to avoid expressing themselves freely in order to ensure their continued existence.
Colbert and co. didn’t say a syllable against the toxic trend.
Currently, they’re inflating their importance and vowing to confront Trump with honesty. It’s likely that if Trump were even a fraction as powerful as they suggest, they wouldn’t dare utter a word.
