On Wednesday evening, a property in Los Angeles, believed to belong to Brad Pitt, was broken into and thoroughly searched by thieves, as stated by the police.
Police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were dispatched to a house in the Los Feliz area at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. It appears that three individuals forcibly entered the residence through the front window, created chaos inside, and subsequently made off with assorted belongings, according to the authorities.
The LAPD did not disclose the ownership details of the house or the stolen goods, however, it was reported by the Associated Press that an Oscar-nominated actor had purchased the property for $5.5 million in April 2023, as per the commercial real estate website Traded.
It’s unclear if anyone was present during the burglary, but Pitt has been touring in support of his latest film, “F1: The Movie,” lately. Just a few days ago, on Monday, he attended the international premiere of the movie in London.
THR has reached out to Pitt’s rep for comment.
The movie titled F1, helmed by director Joseph Kosinski, focuses on Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes – a seasoned Formula One racer who decides to return from retirement and guides a newcomer, Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce. This film will be released in theaters starting this Friday.
In her critique for The Hollywood Reporter, Lovia Gyarkye highlights that the most compelling parts of F1 are when Kosinki integrates his fictional team with actual ones during race weekends. Ultimately, the critic asserts that while there are some implausible aspects within F1 that could prompt skeptics to raise an eyebrow, the film maintains a level of drama comparable to real-life racing events.
NBC News was first to report the news of the burglary.
