Broadway Box Office: Sadie Sink Departs ‘John Proctor,’ ‘Boop’ Sees Closing Boost

On Sunday, Sadie Sink concluded her Tony-nominated stint in “John Proctor Is the Villain” which led to an impressive boost in box office earnings, reaching a record-breaking $1.1 million, representing the highest gross for the show yet. The performance was at over 100% capacity and set a new high average ticket price of $178.

Lady, whose tunes are prominently showcased within the series, was recently present at a show held at the Booth Theatre last week. The play, initially premiered on April 14 and is running till Aug 31, has seen Chiara Aurelia stepping in for Sink.

During its final week on Broadway, Boop! The Musical surged past $275,000, setting a new high for its box office earnings during the entirety of its performance.

The performance at the Broadhurst Theatre grossed an impressive $833,724, nearly filling every seat available, reaching almost 100% capacity. Moreover, the average ticket price was a record-breaking $91.98 for this particular run. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the musical officially opened on April 5 following previews that started on March 11.

After the show failed to win any Tony Awards, it was announced among several post-Tony announcements that Boop’s leading star, Jasmine Amy Rogers, had been nominated for a Tony Award. Additionally, the show earned nominations for its exceptional costume design and choreography.

The musical “Sunset Blvd.” remains popular following its success at the Tonys, as it approaches the end of its stint on Broadway. The show, which bagged three awards including ‘Best Revival of a Musical’ and an accolade for lead actress Nicole Scherzinger, grossed $1.97 million last week and was nearly fully booked, with ticket prices and earnings returning to the levels initially set upon its fall debut.

The musical, which opened Oct. 20, is set to end its run July 20. 

This week, “Wicked” continued to lead the pack with an impressive $2.3 million in earnings, closely trailed by “The Lion King” at $2.2 million and “Hamilton” with $1.9 million. “Sunset Blvd.” ranked fourth among top-grossing shows, while “Aladdin” followed suit with a take of $1.4 million.
