Shakman stated that the Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayal of Mole Man leans more towards a labor union leader rather than a typical supervillain. He further explained that Mole Man’s connection with the Fantastic Four is complex, involving power struggles but also negotiations and alliances. Mole Man values community above all else, which explains his friendly dynamic with Sue and Harvey, as they share an understanding of each other.

Hauser commented on First Steps’ portrayal of Mole Man, stating that “he lives partially hidden, much like a typical villain, yet he is simultaneously caring for an entire race and attempting to lead a peaceful life without interference.
