Farscape’s Ben Browder Reveals His Hilarious Superpower from Stargate SG-1

The iconic SYFY series “Stargate SG-1,” which isn’t typically associated with comics, still managed to infuse its high-octane sci-fi adventures with a unique touch of supernatural flair from its talented cast members.

For nearly a decade, Stargate SG-1 graced our screens, becoming a longstanding favorite on SYFY. In fact, it remained a significant part of their television lineup for years. Towards the end, it even began blending its characters with other popular SYFY shows, such as Farscape. The talented Ben Browder, from Farscape, joined Stargate SG-1 for its last few seasons and some concluding films, helping guide Earth’s cosmic explorations in the final stages of the series.

Despite joining a well-established series, Browder quickly discovered his place within the Stargate format, and surprisingly, this unique role mirrors a certain aspect of his Farscape character, John Crichton.

In a 2008 interview with Gateworld, Browder humorously remarked that Mitchell’s unique ability could be described as enduring frequent defeats. Unlike other characters who appear to possess extraordinary powers, Mitchell has a distinct talent. He is analogous to the Energizer bunny, always ready for more, in terms of taking losses. As you survey the series, it seems each character has specific roles. There appears to be a need for someone to serve as a sparring partner. Interestingly, Teal’c seldom loses battles; just two blows, and he’s defeated his opponent.

In a straightforward manner, Browder expressed his delight in participating actively during the filming of SG-1 and its sequels, pointing out that he often attempted to perform his own stunts whenever feasible. Given that not everyone gets the opportunity to portray an action star on television, he wanted to make the most of the chance to do as much of it himself as he could.

In an interview, Browder shared that his first fight scene on Stargate was a sword fight, which was quite daring. He also mentioned doing other action-packed scenes. Being a fan of performing his own stunts, he relished the opportunity and even requested more challenging activities such as being set on fire, thrown against walls, and covered in dirt, mud, and blood.
