J Balvin, a passionate fan of Casio G-Shock for life, is teaming up officially to launch a shared collection. This Colombian artist, who’s diving into the realm of horology for the first time with this partnership with G-Shock, is marking his debut collaboration with the watch brand. This union between the Latin artist and the watchmaker represents their initial joint endeavor.
Notable Latin music sensation, often referred to as the “King of Reggaeton,” is releasing a restricted collection of the G-Shock DWE5600 series box set titled “Time Matters.” This exclusive set showcases the watch with a black bezel and band that can be swapped for a translucent matte yellow bezel and band. The face of the watch displays the text “Ma’ G,” from his album JOSE. J Balvin’s musical themes are further evident in the lightning logo on the band, which originated from his second album Energía, released in 2016. The same lightning bolts are also visible as cutout shapes on the band keepers and engraved on the stainless steel case back, forming part of Balvin’s smiley face logo. Moreover, Spanish text for button labels is included in J Balvin’s handwriting, making it the first time G-Shock has incorporated this language on their watches.
The robust DWE-5600 watch boasts a Carbon Core Guard case for longevity, with an anticipated price of approximately $230 USD. As of now, its launch date remains undisclosed, though it’s expected to become available globally soon.
