Natasha Henstridge, Joshua Close Join Josh Hartnett in Netflix Newfoundland Series (Exclusive)

Natasha Henstridge and Joshua Close are now part of the cast, along with Josh Hartnett, for Jesse McKeown’s as-yet-unnamed Newfoundland series currently being filmed on Canada’s eastern coast.

McKeown serves as the executive producer for the limited television series, which takes place in Newfoundland, Canada’s easternmost province, and revolves around a terrifying sea monster wreaking havoc on a secluded coastal town. Close will portray Officer Jaxon Noseworthy, while Henstridge will play Jan in this production, where Hartnett assumes the role of a rugged fisherman who must battle to shield his family, his community, and the vanishing traditions of his occupation.

A forthcoming series, still untitled, features Newfoundland battling against Newfoundland, with the stunning and rugged Atlantic ocean serving as a backdrop for the pursuit of a mysterious sea beast. Both Amazon Prime’s “Reacher” and Apple TV’s “Severance” have previously filmed scenes in this Canadian province.

Henstridge boasts a mix of film and television roles such as ‘Would Be Kings’, ‘Commander in Chief’, ‘Diggstown’, and ‘The Whole Nine Yards’. Most recently, they appeared in the Paramount+’s mini-series titled ‘Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey‘, and are also slated to feature in the upcoming Netflix thriller ‘Wayward‘.

In his role as a director, Close garnered the award for Best Narrative Film at the Tribeca Film Festival for his film titled “In Their Skin“. This movie featured Selma Blair and James D’Arcy in lead roles. Additionally, Henstridge and Close are part of the main cast alongside Mackenzie Davis and Charlie Heaton in the Newfoundland series.

McKeown, known for writing popular TV shows such as The Umbrella Academy and 19-2, is also serving as executive producer on an upcoming series about sea creatures, alongside Chris Hatcher and Sharon Hall. The team of writers includes Karen Walton from Orphan Black, Perry Chafe, and Natty Zavitz.

Henstridge is managed by Buchwald and Atlas Artists, while Close is handled by Buchwald, Play Management, and Stride Management.
