Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell are preparing for a challenging new venture. They’re discussing roles in and the production of a comedy-action film titled “Tough Guys“, which is currently being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.
For quite some time, screenwriter Daniel Gold, known for his work on “Workin’ Moms,” wrote a script as a speculative piece with this plot: “Tired of being considered expendable, two henchmen break away from the criminal underworld and redefine the rules by leaving behind their merciless boss and evading the assassin who is pursuing them.”
Ryan Gosling took interest in the script and facilitated Will Ferrell’s involvement. Already a beloved figure at Amazon MGM Studios, Gosling, an Oscar nominee, will be featured in “Project Hail Marry,” set for release on March 20, 2026. The first trailer for this sci-fi film dropped last week, leading up to a grand panel at San Diego Comic-Con the following week. In addition to his role in “Project Hail Marry,” Ferrell is also well-established at the studio as the star of the recently premiered “You’re Cordially Invited” and an upcoming Nicholas Stoller production.
Gosling and Jessie Henderson are discussing the production of “Tough Guys” under their General Admission label, while Ferrell is in discussions for production with Jessica Elbaum under Gloria Sanchez. Executive producers for this project will be Trevor Engelson and Aaron Folbe from Underground.
