As a devoted fan of horror movies and gripping narratives, I must say that the prospect of seeing Addison Rae once again face the chilling antagonist John Carver in “Thanksgiving 2” is nothing short of exhilarating! The first installment was a masterful blend of suspense, gore, and humor, and having Rae reprise her role as Gaby adds an exciting layer to the sequel.
It appears that Addison Rae, who portrayed Gaby in Eli Roth’s movie “Thanksgiving,” may encounter John Carver once more since a sequel to the popular slasher film has been confirmed. During an interview with Variety (while discussing his upcoming project based on “Borderlands”), Roth mentioned that he and co-writer Jeff Rendell were preparing to submit the completed script for the sequel to the studio. In response to a question about potential cast members, Roth hinted at the possibility of Rae reprising her role.
1. Roth expressed, “I have a soft spot for Addison Rae. There seems to be a purpose in having her around. It just doesn’t feel right without Addison Rae in our Thanksgiving-themed production.”
As a devoted cinephile, I eagerly await news about the upcoming sequel, and according to recent reports from reliable sources, Rae’s deal isn’t finalized just yet. However, let’s keep our fingers crossed because Rae has previously expressed a strong interest in reprising the role. During an exclusive chat with Elite Daily in January, Rae hinted at his return, so here’s hoping it all comes together!
“It’s always fun to rebuild the family back after you finish shooting something.”
It hasn’t been decided if Ryan (Milo Manheim), Bobby (Jalen Thomas Brooks), Scuba (Gabriel Davenport) and Jessica (Nell Verlaque), the survivors, will return for the sequel, but it seems that Eli Roth is keen to organize another Thanksgiving.
The Origin of the Thanksgiving Killer

Despite the fact that Thanksgiving debuted last year, the idea actually originated in 2007 when Roth created a mock trailer for Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse, which revolved around a sinister killer. In 2023, Roth directed Thanksgiving from a story he co-wrote with Rendell (who was the pilgrim in the Grindhouse trailer). Rather than attempting to replicate it, they opted to deviate from the original concept and imagine that Thanksgiving 1980 existed and was so controversial that all copies were destroyed. The only surviving piece was the trailer. This updated version of the film is a representation of what that movie would have been like.
As a die-hard horror fan who has spent countless hours binge-watching slasher films, I must say that “Pilgrim Slaughter: A Black Friday Nightmare” is one of the most original and entertaining movies I’ve seen in recent years. Having lived in Plymouth, Massachusetts myself, it was fascinating to see my beloved town portrayed as the backdrop for a gruesome slasher film. The holiday-themed twist on the classic slasher trope was both clever and unsettling, making the film stand out from the pack.
The upcoming movie titled “Borderlands,” directed by Roth, hits theaters on August 9th. This film is based on the highly successful video game series of the same name from Gearbox Software. The plot follows an eclectic group of characters on a quest to rescue a girl who possesses an extraordinary power. The talented cast includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Roth co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Crombie for this film he is directing.
As a lifelong movie buff and avid follower of Rae’s career, I am thrilled to share that I will be seeing Rae in the upcoming live-action/animated comedy Animal Friends, scheduled for release in 2025. The star-studded cast, including Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Vince Vaughn, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery, and Joaquim de Almeida, promises a hilarious and entertaining film. With a passion for both comedy and animal-themed movies, I can’t wait to see how Rae brings their unique charm to the big screen alongside such an impressive cast. Mark your calendars, folks! August 15, 2025, will be a date to remember for fans of great cinema.
The sequel to “Thanksgiving,” titled “Thanksgiving 2,” is set to hit cinemas in 2025. On the other hand, the original “Thanksgiving” can be streamed online via Netflix.
