Experience the exhilaration of horror video games on your own, as they offer an unmatched level of suspense and fear. But if you crave something more intense and entertaining, join forces with your friends in multiplayer horror games for a truly chaotic and delightful experience.
A notable example is the game titled “Lethal Company,” launched in October 2023, that gained massive popularity throughout 2024 due to its viral spread on social media. The concept was straightforward: Explore various moons, gather resources, and boost your company’s profits. However, success isn’t easily attainable as you’ll face numerous monsters during your journey. Although the base game is already enjoyable, additional mods like the Yippee mod provide even more entertainment.
Because of its popularity, Lethal Company gave birth to numerous cooperative horror games that followed a similar pattern. For those searching for games resembling Lethal Company, read on!
R.E.P.O
In simpler terms, R.E.P.O (The Retrieve, Extract, & Profit Operation) is a game that shares similarities with Lethal Company. The objective of this game is for you and up to 5 other players to drive a truck to various houses and facilities. Your goal is to gather valuable items to meet the target price set by the Taxman. However, it’s important to note that extraction points have their own quotas that must be achieved. Typically, between Levels 5 and 6, approximately 4 extraction points need to be activated and completed before you can return to the truck.
In addition to that, gathering and moving those items isn’t a walk in the park. In Lethal Company, you need to store them in your inventory (with some exceptions like the axle), while in R.E.P.O, you have to carry the items and handle their physics. A slight misstep could cause the item to collide with walls or floors, potentially reducing its overall value.

As we delve deeper into this adventure, I can assure you that with every level conquered by us and the team, there will be more formidable foes to contend with. At times, these adversaries band together, posing a particularly challenging threat when we’re making our way back to the vehicle after securing all extraction points.
Content Warning
Although Content Warning doesn’t share the same goal as Lethal Company, it offers an equal dose of replayable entertainment. In this game, you and three companions embark on a journey together, exploring eerie, monochrome locations that change with each playthrough. Unlike other games where you flee from monsters, here, your task is to pursue them, capturing footage using the video camera as part of your team. Keep in mind, there’s a time constraint when using the camera.

A specific number of viewpoints must be attained over the next few days. You might acquire gear from the store, like a handheld microphone for reporters, an extended boom microphone (which could potentially trap you in certain locations due to its length), and a soundboard that not only increases views but also adds a lot of enjoyment when used with friends. The most exciting aspect is that you’ll receive a CD which can be played on your TV in the living room after each session, providing an in-game experience.
Content Warning is currently available on Steam and regularly gets updates and bug fixes.
Murky Divers
If you’re seeking a gaming experience reminiscent of Lethal Company and Subnautica, Murky Divers could be just what you need, especially for group play (though if you suffer from a fear of deep seas, it might be best to look elsewhere). This game supports cooperative play among 8 players in total. You can embark on standard expeditions with up to 4 divers or opt for the full-throttle mode in the larger sub that accommodates 6 to 8 players.

In this cooperative horror game, your task is to recover bodies from submerged laboratories, but beware, hidden perils abound in the dark depths of the ocean. You’ll need someone to navigate the submarine, relying on sonar and stations as you can’t see where you’re going. After making it through alive, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase upgrades and new items before venturing forth into the uncharted abyss again!
The Headliners
In this quirky horror-themed adventure, you assume the roles of intrepid reporters or journalists, willing to take immense risks for sensational headlines. Your mission is to explore the deserted and perilous streets of New York City, meticulously scouring every nook and cranny within buildings in search of your next compelling story.

This game accommodates a group of up to eight players. Instead of recording videos as in a Content Warning scenario, here you capture images of devastation and monstrous creatures. Following each session, assuming you’ve made it through the day alive, you can assess the photos you’ve taken.
PILGRIM
Apart from R.E.P.O., PILGRIM could be the game that shares the most similarities with Lethal Company’s concept. Essentially, it’s a medieval adaptation of the original game. You traverse in a carriage, much like the opening sequence in Skyrim, and can enter houses to gather loot. Instead of just four inventory slots, you have five at your disposal. The interiors of these locations possess a dungeon-like quality and may contain traps. The sounds used are quite unsettling and even managed to induce fear within me.
The method of reviving players is intriguing; it involves using chalk and drawing a star symbol. If you have some extra cash and are looking for games similar to Lethal Company, you might want to give this unique game with friends a try.

Although Lethal Company and similar games appear to follow a repetitive pattern, they could potentially become monotonous quickly, it’s important to note that they offer numerous hours of enjoyable entertainment. It’s worth giving these games a shot with your friends as many are quite affordable!
