Regarding Kenan Thompson in that Black Eyed Peas sketch, it’s hard for me to imagine anything more dismal than donning a bulky costume and boogying down in the streets after an exhausting night of drinking and lack of rest. According to Thompson himself:

As a gamer, I can imagine myself as will.i.am, sporting my heavy, scorching dreadlocks back in our Black Eyed Peas days. Remember, it was long before we hit it big. We’d travel all the way upstate New York for our pre-tape sessions. Man, those were grueling times! To pass the hours and add some fun to our routine, I’d invent little skits – like when I’d call my past self, “Shoulda Kenan,” who’d be cozily sleeping at home. He’d get a call from me, “Hey, man!” “What’s up?” “Can you come pick me up?” “Where are you?” “I’m stranded on the side of the highway somewhere.” These little improvisations made our long trips more bearable and kept us entertained.

As a big fan of their hilarious chemistry on set, I can imagine the scene unfolding like this: If misery truly seeks company, then Kenan Thompson and Will Forte had an ample dose of it that fateful day. Though the cameras didn’t capture the moment, Forte’s telltale signs of a hangover were impossible to conceal. Thompson sympathetically noted, “Man, I could really see you weren’t feeling well there, Will. Let me get you some water or perhaps a hair of the dog?”

Forte lay prone on the bare carpet, mimicking an office setting where we used to change clothes. Devoid of any furniture, he attempted to rest and recover from his hangover by remaining motionless.
