On Unveils ‘LightSpray’ Running Tech With New Model, Cloudboom Strike LS

As a dedicated runner and a follower of innovation in the world of athletic footwear, I am beyond excited about On’s latest addition to their running shoe lineup – the Cloudboom Strike LS, featuring their new LightSpray technology. This game-changing tech is not only a testament to On’s commitment to sustainability but also pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in footwear design.

A new technology named LightSpray has been developed by the company, enhancing its collection of running shoes. This innovation is produced using a single-step process that sprays on the material instead of constructing it, leading to a 75% decrease in CO2 emissions compared to On’s other running shoe models.

As a gamer, I can tell you that with a robotic arm at my disposal, I can put together the one-piece upper and sole of this new shoe model, the Cloudboom Strike LS, in an astonishingly short amount of time – just three minutes! This is a game-changing innovation, as it’s the first shoes from On to boast their LightSpray technology.

The soft, uninterrupted upper resembles a sock in appearance and design, without any laces, providing runners with a comfortable, secure fit around their feet and ankles. On shoes incorporate a carbon Speedboard sandwiched between the upper and the sole, while the midsole includes On’s hyper foam technology.

As a gamer and a runner, I can tell you that the Cloudboom Strike LS doesn’t come with a secondary sock liner inside. Instead, the entire shoe is designed with a bonded construction, meaning there’s no need for glue. This results in a more natural feel, a seamless fit, and added durability against rips. Compared to other running shoes, both from On and the broader market, this method of manufacturing is just one of many approaches they take. Some use weaving, sewing, or even gluing, while others employ various finishing techniques.

The Cloudboom Strike LS has been put to the test by our athletes, and it made its first appearance this year when Hellen Obiri wore it to claim her second victory in the Boston Marathon.
