As a long-time gamer and avid follower of the entertainment industry, I can’t help but be excited about this recent collaboration between Fox Entertainment and Foxtel. Being in the know when it comes to industry news, I’ve seen how important it is for media companies to adapt and expand their reach in today’s rapidly changing landscape.
Fox Entertainment announced a partnership with Foxtel, an Australian pay TV and streaming company headed by Rupert Murdoch, for content licensing and distribution.
Under this international deal, the two collaborators will team up to produce unique shows for both the Australian and American audiences. Fox Entertainment Global, a new division of the US broadcasting company responsible for international distribution, will oversee foreign sales for any series that result from this content-sharing agreement.

We’ll be working together to identify and develop English-language TV content. Once approved by both Fox and the Foxtel Group, these projects will come to life on our screens!
The original series will become available on Foxtel, a subscription TV service operated by Australian company, and Binge, an Australian streaming entertainment product. There is also a possibility that it may be offered on external platforms in the U.S. and other countries. All shows developed under this deal will be manufactured in Australia through Fox Entertainment’s own studio, Fox Entertainment Studios. Both Australian and American talent and crews will be employed for these productions.
In simple terms, Fox is expanding its team of artists and technicians, both in front of and behind the camera, in Australia. This move aims to increase Fox’s collection of international TV content for potential use during Hollywood production closures. The agreement between Fox and Foxtel also grants them flexibility as they both work on enhancing their streaming TV offerings.
Furthermore, the collaboration between Fox and Foxtel is a recent example of US and global TV companies teaming up to reduce content expenses and establish a more viable business structure for the television industry. Notably, this deal occurs as Fox strengthens its relationships with international partners such as Bell Media in Canada and Eagle Eye Drama in the UK.
“For us at Fox Entertainment, expanding our presence abroad through creative business strategies is a top priority. This becomes even more important now that we have established our new corporate framework, consisting of Fox Network, Fox Entertainment Studios, and Fox Entertainment Global,” Wade remarked in a statement on Monday.
