Gears of War: E-Day PlayStation release might’ve already been debunked

Gears of War: E-Day PlayStation release might’ve already been debunked

As a long-time fan of the Gears of War series, I’ve witnessed its evolution from its humble beginnings to the epic sagas that have kept me hooked for years. The announcement of Gears of War: E-Day, set 14 years before the events of the original game, has me excited for a fresh take on this beloved franchise.

Five years have passed since The Coalition released Gears 5, which wasn’t exactly a home run for me as a gamer. But now, I’m thrilled to hear that the team is preparing for the next installment in this gripping saga. Although there’s anticipation about where Kait and Marcus’ stories might lead us someday, we’re starting anew with Gears of War: E-Day.

Around 14 years prior to the events of Gears of War in 2006, there is the pivotal day known as Emergence Day. In this tale, Sgt. Marcus Fenix and Cpl. Dominic Santiago work together to protect humanity from an imminent threat. Although it’s common knowledge that the world faces impending doom, Emergence Day promises to bring a fresh perspective and significant advancement to the series, utilizing Unreal Engine 5 for its development.

Although it doesn’t reach the heights of Halo among Microsoft’s exclusive games, Gears has been a consistent contender in Xbox’s first-party offerings. Sony, on the other hand, has reigned supreme in this category with titles like God of War and The Last of Us serving as compelling reasons for many to purchase a PlayStation.

Microsoft is shifting its approach to exclusivity by making some of its previously Xbox-exclusive games, such as Sea of Thieves and Grounded, available on other platforms like Sony’s. It’s uncertain how far this trend will go, but Starfield, another anticipated game, hasn’t been confirmed for release yet, although it’s not completely off the table.

Microsoft has begun distributing some of its games following the completion of the Activision Blizzard King deal. Notably, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is yet to be released on PlayStation. However, with Gears of War: E-Day having significant potential as a first-party game, might it possibly be launched on Microsoft’s main competitor?

Gamers have reported that The Coalition is hiring a Senior Online Client Engineer for Gears of War: E-Day. The preferred applicant will contribute to creating an engaging multiplayer and online environment, with additional responsibilities involving the development of in-game economies and transactions, session management, tracking player stats, handling user-generated content, and implementing matchmaking systems.

Some believe that the fact that the developer has mentioned prior experience with Xbox Live, Steam, and the PlayStation Network suggests a possible PlayStation game announcement is imminent. However, this theory wasn’t universally accepted when it was first discussed on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit.

One critic remarked, “They use typical tech language and it doesn’t reveal much about their intended platforms. They prefer audience members who are already accustomed to using online tools. They aren’t targeting people without any experience in the digital world.”

An additional person commented, “Some individuals are now trying to disseminate false information about Microsoft,” while another individual explained, “These positions are essentially for acquiring experience in those networks. It’s similar to interviewing candidates for fast food jobs at multiple brands. Insignificant.

Some were open to new ideas, with one person suggesting, “If Gears is going to come out for PS, a prequel would be the most logical choice since no previous knowledge of the series is necessary. Furthermore, it could be developed simultaneously with the Xbox version, eliminating the need for a separate team to handle a port of the original games.”

Microsoft is making good progress with its Project Latitude plan to distribute some of its popular games, even though Tom Warren of The Verge previously indicated that Gears of War might not be involved. As of now, there’s no announced launch date for E: Day. With the Coalition having more time, it’s possible that plans could shift.
