Emmys: Carol Burnett Becomes Oldest Female Comedy Acting Nominee for ‘Palm Royale’

As a long-time fan and follower of Carol Burnett‘s illustrious career, I am absolutely thrilled to witness her historic 91-year-old milestone as the oldest female comedy acting Emmy nominee for her latest role in “Palm Royale” on Apple TV+. Her previous accolades and achievements are simply remarkable – 24 Emmy nominations, seven wins, and an induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame!

I’m thrilled to pieces as a fan to share that at an impressive 91 years old, the brilliant Carol Burnett has earned herself a spot as the oldest female comedy acting Emmy nominee for her hilarious performance in Apple TV+’s “Palm Royale”. What a testament to her timeless talent and dedication to making us laugh!

I was thrilled to learn that I earned a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series on Wednesday. I’m honored to be mentioned alongside an impressive roster of talented actresses, including Liza Colón-Zayas from “The Bear,” Hannah Einbinder from “Hacks,” Janelle James from “Abbott Elementary,” Sheryl Lee Ralph also from “Abbott Elementary,” and the legendary Meryl Streep from “Only Murders in the Building.” What an amazing experience!

At the age of 98, Dick Van Dyke holds the distinction of being the oldest person ever nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. Previously, Cecily Tyson and Ernest Borgnine earned nominations in 2018 and 2009 respectively. Tyson was recognized for her guest acting role in “How to Get Away with Murder” at the age of 93, while Borgnine received a nod for his guest appearance on “ER” when he was 92 years old.

I am truly awestruck by the remarkable accomplishments of Carol Burnett. Her influence on television comedy is simply unparalleled. With a total of 24 Emmy nominations and seven wins under her belt, she has left an indelible mark on the industry.

At “Palm Royale,” Burnett assumes the role of Normal Dellacorte, a wealthy and comatose aunt-in-law to Maxine, played by Kristen Wiig. The show boasts an impressive cast that includes Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Laura Dern, and Allison Janney. “Palm Royale” amassed a total of eleven Emmy nominations, including for the best comedy series category and for Wiig’s outstanding performance as a lead actress in a comedy series.
