‘Dune: Prophecy’ Sets Fall Premiere at HBO, Releases Second Teaser

As a dedicated fan of the Dune universe, I am beyond thrilled to hear that HBO has officially set a premiere date for “Dune: Prophecy,” the much-anticipated prequel series to Denis Villeneuve’s film franchise. November can’t come soon enough!

The origin story of the Bene Gesserit has a premiere date — more or less — at HBO.

In November, the high-end TV channel will introduce “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel show to Denis Villeneuve’s movie series, with the exact date to be announced soon. Originally intended as an exclusive for HBO Max, the streamer’s sister platform, this production will now make its debut under the HBO banner instead. This change is part of a strategic rebranding effort by Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that owns both networks.

In addition to unveiling the release month for “Dune: Prophecy,” HBO shared a fresh teaser with viewers. This enticing sneak peek offers previously unreleased footage and includes more dialogue than its initial trailer, which made its debut in May. Take a look at the new teaser below.

In my excitement for the upcoming Dune: Prophecy, I’d like to share that this intriguing story takes us back an astounding 10,000 years before the more recent film adaptations. The foundation of this captivating narrative comes from the brilliant minds of Brian Herbert, Frank Herbert’s son, and Kevin J. Anderson, who penned the novel Sisterhood of Dune.

Emily Watson and Olivia Williams play the roles of Valya and Tula Harkonnen. The ensemble includes Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.

HBO and Legendary Television are teaming up to produce the series, with Legendary handling both the TV show and feature films. Alison Schapker serves as the showrunner and executive produces alongside Diane Ademu-John, who helped develop the project. Anna Foerster directs several episodes, while Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert represent the Frank Herbert estate. Additionally, Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts executive produce. Anderson is listed as a co-producer.
