Jeffrey Dean Morgan Reveals The Boys’ Soldier Boy is the ‘Single Greatest’ in Television

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Reveals The Boys' Soldier Boy is the 'Single Greatest' in Television

As a huge fan of both comic books and gripping television series, I’ve been eagerly following The Boys since its debut on Prime Video. Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s portrayal of Joe Kessler in Season 3 was an unexpected turn that left many fans, including myself, wanting more. While his character may have been written off in a surprising way, leaving him unable to interact with other characters aside from Billy Butcher, I’m still holding onto the hope that Morgan will make an appearance in Season 5.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s portrayal of Joe Kessler in “The Boys” didn’t meet fans’ expectations, but the actor hopes to continue interacting with other characters during the fifth and final season of the comic book series. Fans are particularly excited about the possibility of Morgan sharing scenes with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy. Interestingly, Morgan is also a big fan of this character himself.

In Episode 6 of “The Boys,” Morgan’s character took an unexpected turn when it was revealed that Kessler was just another figment of Billy Butcher’s tumor. This revelation significantly altered the course of the character, limiting his ability to engage with other characters. Nevertheless, with Season 5 on the horizon, there is no doubt that Morgan will play a crucial role in the storyline. In an interview with Variety, Morgan expressed his excitement about potentially working with “one of the most remarkable characters” on television and being part of the upcoming season.

In simpler terms, “I strongly feel that Season 5 would be incomplete without my presence. I haven’t had any formal discussions about it, but I believe it would be challenging to continue without resolving some storylines – ideally, through an entire season. I want to act with all the show’s cast members, but Jensen and I have a long-standing bond, like brothers. Jim is also amazing, so of course I’d want to work with him as well.”

“I’ve watched a lot of TV recently, but Jensen’s Soldier Boy character stands out as one of the best I’ve seen.”

“I was greatly impressed by his performance. I had long wanted to collaborate with him, and our working relationship has been enjoyable and rewarding for me personally.”

The Boys Season 5 Will Bring the Story of Butcher and Homelander to a Violent End

Despite the presence of numerous characters, “The Boys” has consistently centered around the conflict between Butcher and Homelander. In an interview preceding the finale, showrunner Eric Kripke expressed his views on wrapping up the series, suggesting that there is essentially one viable resolution to the storyline.

“The main theme running through the show is the inevitable collision between Homelander and Billy Butcher, like two massive celestial bodies. The finale will surely revolve around their clash and its repercussions, despite the existence of other stories and unexplored parts of this universe. At heart, this narrative centers on Homelander and Butcher’s fateful encounter.”

As a long-time fan of The Boys, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension as I wait to find out how the story unfolds. Having watched the series unfold over the past seasons, I’ve come to expect the unexpected – no character is safe from the brutal fatalities that have become a hallmark of this gritty and gripping show.
