As a dedicated fan of innovative timepieces, I am thrilled to witness the latest collaboration between Swatch and OMEGA, the Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase MoonSwatch. Having admired their previous MoonSwatch releases with Snoopy and Woodstock designs, I was eagerly anticipating this new blue variant.
Swatch and OMEGA are bringing back a new version of their Mission to the Moonphase collaboration. They’re introducing a blue model, which they’ve fittingly dubbed “Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase.”
The first Mission To the Moonphase watch featured Snoopy and Woodstock on its moonphase display along with an all-white finish. This style was repeated in the subsequent Moonphase MoonSwatch edition, which came in a matte black color scheme.
In terms of design, the Super Blue Moonphase watch breaks away from the whimsical style of its earlier versions. This shift is noticeable in the moonphase display, where the traditional Snoopy and Woodstock figures have been swapped out for intricately shaded moons coated in UV ink.
Surrounded by a blue Bioceramic casing, complete with a coordinating blue crown and pushers, this watch showcases a dark blue bezel. The strap, reminiscent of a spacesuit’s VELCRO® fastenings, also boasts a matching blue hue. Contrasting details on the silver-opaline dial switch between light and dark shades of blue. Luminescent indices and hands add functionality to this stylish timepiece.
Typically, the 42mm-wide reference operates with a quartz movement featuring both a chronograph and moonphase functions. At the back of the case, there’s a blue moonprint decorating the battery compartment.
Starting August 1st until the 19th, you can purchase the Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase MoonSwatch in certain Swatch stores globally. This unique watch is priced at $310 USD and is perfect for marking this year’s first super moon and blue full moon on August 19th.
