The Ghostface Costume From Scream Is Going to Auction Next Month

As a long-time gamer and horror movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement when I come across news about iconic movie memorabilia going up for auction. The recent announcement that the original Ghostface costume from Wes Craven’s groundbreaking film “Scream” is up for grabs has me counting down the days to the event.

As a long-time horror movie enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement about this amazing opportunity to own a piece of cinematic history. The original costume worn by Stu Macher and Billy Loomis in Wes Craven’s groundbreaking film “Scream” is soon going up for auction, and I can barely believe it!

From the 15th to the 18th of August, an event takes place in Los Angeles where you’ll find the auction of a legendary Ghostface costume. At the Petersen Automotive Museum on the opening day, this highly-anticipated item is tagged as “lot #280.” With an estimated selling price between $50,000 and $100,000, be prepared to dig deep into your pockets if you wish to own a piece of ’90s slasher movie history.

“This famous costume includes a single soft, glow-in-the-dark PVC mask and a custom-made robe with a hood and integrated gloves…The mask is attached to a black cotton shroud via a self-adhesive strip at the top. This strip also secures the hood of the robe, which has another strip sewn inside. The one-piece robe is made from a special woven fabric with silver threads running through it, giving it a sparkling effect. These sparkles helped make the costume stand out against dark backdrops and were a distinctive feature in the early Scream movies.”

If “Scream” isn’t your preferred movie genre, there are still other options for you at the auction. Regardless of what type of films you prefer, you can discover unique memorabilia that may not be available elsewhere. While horror items are quite popular, the selection extends far beyond that.

Scream: The Birth of a Franchise, the Renaissance of a Genre

As a huge fan of the horror genre and the iconic “Scream” franchise, I can’t help but be in awe of Ghostface’s chilling attire. Ever since it first gave me goosebumps back in 1996, this costume has remained mostly unchanged throughout the series. With each new installment, I hold my breath, wondering if any modifications will be made. But based on the enduring legacy of Wes Craven’s horror masterpiece, it seems unlikely that Ghostface’s iconic outfit will undergo significant changes anytime soon. As someone who owns a piece of this horror history, I feel connected to the franchise in a unique way and can’t wait to see what twists and turns the future holds for “Scream.”

In the movie “Scream,” Sidney Prescott, now a teenager in Woodsboro, is deeply mourning the loss of her mother, Maureen, who was murdered a year prior. With another killer on the loose, targeting and terrorizing teenagers, it appears that this new assailant, or assailants, also known as Ghostface, have an unhealthy obsession with horror films. They’re relentless in their pursuit of Sidney, seemingly determined to make her understand the motive behind the violent spree. The film was a massive success, rekindling interest in horror movies among audiences through its innovative take on the genre.

It’s indisputable that “Scream” and its iconic antagonist, Ghostface, hold significant weight in the horror genre. Their enduring impact is evident as they stand shoulder-to-shoulder with other horror legends like Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, Chucky, and others.
