As a gamer and someone who has spent countless hours exploring virtual worlds, I can’t help but be excited about Niantic’s latest offering: Monster Hunter Now. Having grown up playing Capcom’s classic series on consoles, I was skeptical at first about how well the formula would translate to mobile. But with 15 million downloads in just six months, it’s clear that Niantic has hit a nerve.
Niantic is famously recognized for creating Pokemon Go. However, Monster Hunter Now, developed by Capcom, has also seen a successful debut. The classic monster hunting gameplay, where creatures are hunted and transformed into weapons to pursue larger beasts, holds the same allure for mobile users. In just half a year, this game managed to attract an impressive 15 million downloads.
If you reside in a rural location, however, you might be missing out on the full experience compared to someone living in the heart of a city, such as London, where points of interest and creature appearances are more frequent. Fortunately, Niantic has found a solution for this issue.
Monster Hunter Now’s Dimensional Links explained
Some monsters may become trapped between dimensions as they are brought into our world by Niantic.
A new symbol represents these animals, allowing you to engage hunters at a distance who have initiated the fight prior to beginning your own hunt.
After finding a suitable match, you’ll have the opportunity to join in, which could mean I’ll finally have a chance to take on some larger monsters that would have been challenging in my more secluded area.
You don’t have to wait between hunts, allowing you to continuously chase after Dimensional Link monsters. Additionally, if there’s a fight happening nearby, you can choose to join in.
Monsters and Beasts
In addition to Dimensional Links, Monster Hunter Now is teaming up with YouTube sensation Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson. He will collaborate on creating an exclusive questline within the game.
Players have the opportunity to obtain a fresh MrBeast Sword and Shield set, in addition to an array of cosmetic items such as layered armor and facial paint, plus some elusive monster materials for crafting purposes.
As someone who has spent countless hours indoors, I can attest to the importance of getting outside for exploration and physical activity. And if that adventure comes in the form of a free event like “Monster Hunter Now,” all the better! According to MrBeast’s recent press release, this exciting experience will officially begin on July 27 and last until September 2. That’s over a month of opportunities to get out there and discover new things.
Collaborating with Niantic on a unique Monster Hunter Now questline of my own is an enjoyable experience. It’s wonderful that they value the input of creators and have faith in our ability to engage fans.
