Vince Vaughn Buys a Pickleball Team

As a die-hard fan of both Vince Vaughn and pickleball, I couldn’t be more excited about this amazing news! Vince has always been one of my favorite actors, and now, he’s not just entertaining us on the big screen, but also making a significant impact in the world of pickleball.

Vince Vaughn will soon own more than half of the pickleball team, the Coachella Valley Scorpions.

Kim Jagd, along with other co-owners, initiated the team in May, making it one of the 12 teams participating in the National Pickleball League’s Champions Pro League. This league specifically caters to athletes aged fifty and above. Notably, actor Vaughn, recognized for his parts in films like “Wedding Crashers” and “Old School,” shares an enthusiasm for pickleball.

“Vaughn expressed his long-standing enjoyment of the game and was greatly impressed by Kim, both as a player and a coach, during their encounter. He’s thrilled to back Kim and the Scorpions as they advance in their endeavors.”

Jagd, who is part of our team, will continue to own a smaller share after the deal. Other team co-owners include Rob Zwemmer, Ruth Ann Poppa, and Don Zuker. According to Sports Business Journal, the team’s worth falls in the middle of the six figures.

Jagd first met Vaughn on the pickleball courts near Manhattan Beach.

As a gamer, I’d say: “Playing pickleball with Vince feels electrifying! His passion is contagious and it’s an amazing addition to our team. The Scorpions’ reputation will only grow stronger, not just in Coachella Valley, but throughout Southern California as well.”

In its first year, 2023, the National Pickleball League experienced a significant expansion by nearly doubling the number of competing teams.

“NPL CEO Paul Bamundo expressed his excitement: ‘We’re delighted that acting legend Vince Vaughn has joined us in our love for pickleball by purchasing a significant share in the Coachella Valley Scorpions.’ The league has seen remarkable expansion during its initial two seasons, and Vaughn’s involvement underlines the escalating popularity of this sport not just in California but also nationwide.”
