The revelation that “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remasters” are on the horizon feels like a dream come true after decades of waiting in vain for any news of a new game.

It’s hard to believe what I’m seeing right now – the news seems too good to be true – but there’s solid evidence in the form of photographs to support it. A statue at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con confirms that “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remasters” are on their way, marking the return of a beloved video game franchise.

I took another glance at the statue and noticed the official marketing for the upcoming games displayed on the placard. Right there in the image, a QR code caught my eye, leading me directly to Dark Horse Direct – a well-known supplier of video game collectibles like figurines and statues. Based on GameSpot’s reports, Dark Horse plans to release the Legacy of Kain statue in August. However, regarding the rumors of remasters, no definitive confirmations have been made yet.
The Remasters Have Not Been Officially Announced
Based on the authenticity of the leaked information, it seems inevitable that an official announcement for the remasters of the Legacy of Kain series will be made soon rather than later. The last instalment in this series was released way back in 2003, titled “Legacy of Kain: Defiance.” For over two decades since then, there has been no news about a new game in this franchise.
From a different perspective, I, along with many other fans, haven’t forgotten the greatness of this dark fantasy series from the past and have been eagerly waiting for its return. However, our hopes have yet to be realized. But it looks like we may not have to wait much longer.
Currently, Embracer Group holds the rights to the Legacy of Kain intellectual property, among other notable franchises previously belonging to Square Enix. This transition occurred after Square Enix was acquired by Embracer in May 2022 for a $300 million price tag. Post-acquisition, Embracer Group announced their new ownership.
The announcement elicited a tremendously favorable reaction from the public, indicating significant promise for follow-up films, television shows, enhanced versions, offshoots, and multimedia adaptations within the company.
