Aamir Khan didn’t like the word ‘improvise’; Mita Vashisht says Ghulam star would have treated her better if she was commercial actress

As a dedicated follower of Indian cinema, I have always admired Aamir Khan for his exceptional acting skills and meticulous approach to filmmaking. However, after reading Mita Vashisht‘s recent interview with The Lallantop, I find myself reflecting on the experiences she shared from their time working together on Ghulam.

Aamir Khan is widely admired for his meticulous approach to filmmaking, but this method didn’t sit well with his “Ghulam” co-star, Mita Vashisht. In an interview with The Lallantop, Mita shared her perspective, coming from a theatrical background, she found Aamir’s extensive planning less appealing. Additionally, she pondered if her experience would have been different had she been a commercially successful actress in Bollywood.

Why didn’t Aamir Khan’s way of working didn’t align with Mita Vashisht?

Fifty-six-year-old actress shared that she and Aamir had distinct acting backgrounds. During preparations for “Ghulam,” they worked under Mahesh Bhatt’s direction. He guided them through a scene, and Mita proposed adding her own ideas – improvising.

During one conversation, Aamir gave me a suggestion by saying, “Improvise.” However, Vashisht mentioned that Aamir didn’t prefer that term. In another instance, while Aamir was describing the sequence of actions as “You do this when I do that,” Mita responded promptly, “I will act based on what I need to do, and you do the same.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’d suggest paraphrasing it like this: When Aamir questioned me about how to anticipate what was coming next, Vashisht advised him to focus on the present and respond accordingly. In contrast, Khan preferred having everything planned out in advance, but this approach didn’t sit well with me.
