Spencer Ela Boards Miramax’s Motion Picture Group as Senior VP

As a seasoned gamer with a deep appreciation for both the film industry and the art of storytelling, I can’t help but be excited about Spencer Ela’s new role as a senior vice president at Miramax’s Motion Picture Group. His extensive experience in Hollywood, from his time at The Safran Company to STXfilms and Untitled Entertainment, speaks volumes about his passion for bringing compelling stories to life on the big screen.

Veteran film producer Spencer Ela has joined Miramax’s Motion Picture Group as a senior vp.

I’ve recently had the privilege of working at The Safran Company, specifically under the guidance of Peter Safran, co-chair of DC Studios, and John Rickard, a renowned producer.

She joined Miramax sometime following Jonathan Glickman’s appointment as CEO, with him succeeding the previous CEO, Bill Block, who left last year after serving for six years at the helm of the film and television studio.

At Safran, one of his accomplishments was collaborating on the production of Amazon Studios’ thrilling action-comedy “Heads of State.” This film boasts an impressive cast that includes John Cena, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, and Jack Quaid. Ilya Naishuller (“Nobody”) helms the direction, while Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec penned the script.

At Safran, Ela was responsible for supervising the creation and manufacturing of the DC’s “Blue Beetle” film, featuring breakout star Xolo Maridueña from “Cobra Kai”, and directed by Angel Manuel Soto based on a script penned by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.

Previously, she was employed as a film executive at STXfilms. Her professional journey commenced in tandem with manager/producer Richard Arlook, following which she transitioned to Untitled Entertainment.
