As a dedicated fan of NCIS and the beloved characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, I can’t help but admire the camaraderie and professionalism Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo displayed during their time together on the show. This thrilling installment saw Tony and Ziva working undercover as married assassins, and things got heated when they shared a passionate kiss and simulated an intimate moment to throw off any potential observers. Kicking off our discussion on Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch, my co-host de Pablo brought up Weatherly’s thoughtful consideration for my comfort during our on-screen bed scenes: “During the filming of those intimate moments, Mark really went out of his way to make sure I felt at ease and comfortable.”

At the time, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo hadn’t known each other for long in their professional capacity. However, it’s heartening to know that he was considerate towards her early on by checking if she liked the scent of his deodorant. This is important when you’re required to film extensive scenes together, as you wouldn’t want your co-star to be uncomfortable due to an unpleasant smell during close-ups. Furthermore, De Pablo subtly revealed that Weatherly also took care to ensure she looked her best on camera. She explained that he had a thoughtful approach towards helping her prepare for the scenes.

However, upon reflection, I realized that in the theatre or otherwise, you were mindful of aspects like weight, angle, and appearance that usually don’t cross my mind. In essence, without me even realizing it, you were taking care to make sure I looked good – a gesture I truly appreciate.

Despite the fact that the connection between Tony and Ziva was just a cover to uncover who hired an impersonating couple and who they were supposed to eliminate, the undercover operation “Tiva’s Beginning” initiated their romantic feelings. For almost a decade, there was a back-and-forth tension between them. Eventually, they gave in to their emotions and are now raising their daughter Tali together since Ziva is no longer hiding from authorities as of NCIS Season 17 episode “In the Wind.” However, their peaceful life will be disrupted when Tony’s security business gets attacked, forcing them to flee across Europe in “NCIS: Tony & Ziva.”

The spin-off of NCIS titled “Tony & Ziva” doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet. In contrast to other NCIS series, this show will only be available on Paramount+. The 2024 TV lineup includes the premiere of NCIS Season 22 and the debut of the prequel NCIS: Origins on October 14. Additionally, NCIS: Sydney has been renewed for another season, but no information has been provided regarding its return date.
