As a long-time comic book enthusiast and film buff, I can’t help but feel nothing short of exhilaration when witnessing the journey of James Gunn‘s Superman project. Having grown up idolizing the Man of Steel, it’s heartwarming to see such a passionate and dedicated creator breathing new life into this iconic character.
James Gunn is sharing his appreciation for his Superman collaborators as the movie wraps filming.
On Tuesday, I hopped onto social media to give a heartfelt shout-out to the amazing team responsible for the DC Studios feature that brings back the legendary Superman character. Warner Bros. has announced that we’ll be able to catch this iconic hero on the big screen starting July 11, 2025! I can hardly wait!
“Well, it’s a wrap! What an incredible journey this project has been. Kudos to our dedicated cast and crew whose unwavering commitment, inventiveness, and sheer grit have breathed life into this vision. I aimed to create a film about a virtuous man in a less than ideal world, and the daily dose of goodness, kindness, and love I’ve witnessed on set has not only inspired me but also fueled me when I thought I had nothing left. Here’s to the magic we’ve created together!”
He added, “I want to express my deepest gratitude to each one of you. It’s been a privilege working with all of you. The end goal was ‘Superman’, but the real journey was filled with hard work, laughter, emotions, creative exchanges, and magical moments that we created together on set. For these experiences, I am eternally grateful.”
In this adaptation, David Corenswet takes on the role of Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan portraying Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult stepping into Lex Luthor’s shoes. This movie is the initial production from the fresh lineup of projects spearheaded by DC Studios heads Gunn and Safran.
Completing the ensemble of actors in this movie are Isabela Merced playing Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo portraying Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Edi Gathegi taking on the role of Mister Terrific, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and María Gabriela de Faría in the part of The Engineer.
Gunn recently shared a picture from their first week of filming in snow-covered Svalbard, Norway, featuring the entire team.
The upcoming movie is the first time Superman, who was portrayed by Henry Cavill in several previous films, will be seen since Man of Steel (2013) directed by Zack Snyder.
