My Adventures With Superman’s Showrunners Share When They Learned About The Season 3 Renewal, But I’m Especially Excited By How Long They See The Show Going

As a seasoned gamer and Superman enthusiast with over two decades of comic book reading under my belt, I can confidently say that the news about Season 3 of “My Adventures with Superman” has brought a ray of hope into my Metropolis-loving heart. It’s not every day that a series captures the essence of the Man of Steel as this one does, and to see it continue is nothing short of exhilarating.

Previously this month, the second season of “My Adventures with Superman” ended on television schedules for 2024, and to be honest, it seemed like the finale could have been for “My Adventures with Supergirl”. Luckily, that’s not what occurred as it was announced in June that “My Adventures with Superman” will continue for Season 3. During an interview with TopMob, Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher, who are the showrunners of the DC TV series alongside Josie Campbell, revealed when they found out about Season 3, but what excites me most is how long they plan for this series to last.

My Adventures With Superman’s Showrunners Learned About Season 3 Way After Season 2 Was Finished

As a diehard fan myself, I had the incredible opportunity to chat with the masterminds behind “My Adventures with Superman” during San Diego Comic-Con. I started off by asking Jake Wyatt, one of the brilliant minds on the team, when they learned about renewing the show for another season. Jake shared that they were thrilled to hear the news and can’t wait to continue their amazing journey with the Man of Steel.

After concluding the final episode, we hadn’t yet confirmed that there would be a Season 3. So, while writing, we kept our options open, ensuring the show would continue to engage and delight our viewers if given another season. Luckily, much of what we’re preparing for Season 3 has been in discussion since 2018, so we don’t need significant changes or adjustments. In essence, we were writing with a flexible mindset but have been ready to proceed with the new season for quite some time. However, you are correct, the finale was written with the possibility of not having another season in mind.

It was prudent for Wyatt, Clogher, and Campbell to opt for a more conservative approach when crafting the Season 2 finale of “My Adventures with Superman.” Given that the show received a two-season order in 2021, it might have only run for 20 episodes due to Adult Swim’s cancellation or DC Studios deciding against investing additional resources. However, it seems that the series has influential backers, ensuring that Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Kara Zor-El will continue their heroic endeavors in Metropolis for the foreseeable future.

My Adventures With Superman’s Showrunners Hope The Series Goes Into Season 4 And ‘Possibly Beyond’

It’s comforting to know that ideas for Season 3 were developed over more than half a decade in advance, rather than Jake Wyatt, Brendan Clogher, and Josie Campbell having to start completely anew when they learned about Season 3. However, if these three have their way, My Adventures with Superman could potentially secure another season, or even multiple ones following this. As Clogher put it:

When Jake and I initially proposed the show back in 2018 (if I recall correctly), we outlined the main themes for Season 1 as well as some ideas for Seasons 2, 3, and potentially more. There’s certainly enough content in our plan to fill four seasons, completing a full story arc.

It’s uncertain when we might find out whether Season 4 will happen for “My Adventures with Superman” or if Adult Swim and/or DC Studios choose to discontinue it. I hope the series continues for as long as possible so the writers can fully express their creative ideas, but as a devoted fan of this interpretation of the Superman storyline since its debut, I’d be equally content if it extends beyond Season 5, potentially even indefinitely.

Regarding Season 3, artwork unveiled at the SDCC panel for “My Adventures with Superman” hinted that the Conner Kent version of Superboy would make an appearance, as well as Hank Henshaw’s transformation into Cyborg Superman – a development I had been eagerly anticipating. Furthermore, it was suggested in the Season 2 finale that Amanda Waller is now on the run, and Lex Luthor has formed an alliance with Slade Wilson. Additionally, it seems that Lex Luthor may start to lose his hair in Season 3 as he establishes LexCorp.

Although we’re yet to know the exact release date for Season 3 of “My Adventures with Superman”, here’s something exciting: You can effortlessly watch Seasons 1 and 2 by subscribing to Max. Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed about any significant developments regarding upcoming DC TV series as part of our regular coverage.
