Wesley Snipes Snatches Major Marvel World Record From Deadpool & Wolverine Star Hugh Jackman

As a seasoned gamer and a die-hard Marvel fan with over two decades of comic book movie watching under my belt, let me tell you, the return of Wesley Snipes as Blade has sent shockwaves through the community! I remember the first time I saw him on the big screen back in ’98; it was like a supernatural symphony that left an indelible mark on my cinematic soul. So when I heard about his surprise cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, I couldn’t help but let out a victorious battle cry!

Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Wesley Snipes from the Blade series has surpassed Hugh Jackman in terms of a significant milestone, thanks to his unexpected appearance in the latest MCU film sequel. With his triumphant return, Guinness World Records has announced that Snipes now owns the title “the character with the longest career as a live-action Marvel character.” A title previously held by Jackman.

Due to his recent role in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” where he resides among characters inhabiting ‘The Void’ alongside other former Marvel figures, it’s been over 25 years since Wesley Snipes initially portrayed the character in Blade (1998). Similarly, Hugh Jackman, who debuted as Wolverine 24 years ago in X-Men (2000), was anticipated to surpass Patrick Stewart’s record, his Logan co-star, upon the release of Deadpool. However, it seems that Blade has proven yet again that some people are always attempting the impossible, skating uphill as if it were easy.

After starring in Deadpool and Wolverine, Snipes has managed to secure a spot in the Guinness World Records not just once, but twice. The Blade star achieved this feat by also claiming the record for the longest gap between appearances as a Marvel character, having been absent for an impressive 19 years and 231 days. By doing so, Snipes surpassed Alfred Molina, who had been away from the Marvel screen for 17 years before reappearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

The comeback of Wesley Snipes within the Marvel universe, particularly in the thrilling blend of Deadpool and Wolverine, was undeniably one of the most unexpected twists. Given that an upcoming reboot featuring Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali is underway, few would have anticipated Snipes’ return as the Daywalker. Even Snipes himself seemed taken aback by this development, expressing surprise in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he never thought he’d portray the character again.

“I never imagined it could happen. I didn’t believe we had the chance to succeed. I doubted that Marvel and Disney were interested, especially given their plans with Mahershala for the next project. It seemed illogical to me, but then an unexpected call came from Ryan Reynolds after 20 years. I thought, ‘I must take this call.’ When he shared his idea with me, they agreed, gave the go-ahead, and said, ‘If you’re in, we’re all in.’ Here we are now.”

Under the direction of Shawn Levy, who co-wrote the script with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, the film titled Deadpool & Wolverine features Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The storyline places them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following an assignment from the Time Variance Authority (TVA). This mission will take them on a journey through the chaos of various universes. The supporting cast includes Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Matthew Macfadyen, and several cameos.
