As a longtime fan who grew up watching Law & Order: SVU, I can’t help but feel a sense of pure joy and nostalgia witnessing the heartwarming encounter between Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and the legendary Mariska Hargitay. It’s not every day that you get to see your childhood idol in person, let alone have them fangirl over you! I can only imagine what it would feel like if Olivia Benson herself were to show up at my doorstep.

If you’ve been tuning in to the 2024 Summer Olympics, you might have noticed that Paris has become a hotspot for celebrities. Stars like Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Snoop Dogg, and John Travolta are just a few of the famous faces gracing the games. Even Hoda Kotb from Today can’t hide her excitement over rubbing shoulders with so many stars. Some celebrities seem fascinated by the athletes, but the feeling is mutual as some athletes are starstruck too. This is particularly evident in the case of gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Sunisa “Sunni” Lee who were thrilled beyond belief when they met Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order. This encounter has led to a heartwarming moment that I didn’t even know I wanted to witness.

As a long-time admirer of both sports and cinema, I must say that this year’s Olympics has been a truly memorable event filled with inspiring moments. However, one encounter between three extraordinary individuals has left an indelible mark on me. Having grown up watching the actress in question grace the silver screen, I was absolutely thrilled to see her share a heartwarming moment with these two Olympic gold medalists.

So many of us probably would’ve reacted the same way had we come across Mariska Hargitay. After all, this is the woman who’s entertained audiences for years through her beloved role as law enforcement official Olivia Benson. Suni Lee’s reaction in particular is very touching, as she seems to be fighting back tears. She was so emotional that, as you can hear in the clip, Jordan Chiles had to tell her, “Suni, wait, don’t cry!” This may not have been the first actor/celebrity meet-up I had on my bingo card, but I’m so glad it happened! It’s interesting to note that Mariska Hargitay isn’t the only star from Law & Order who’s been partaking in the excitement of the Olympics. Her longtime on-screen partner, Christopher Meloni, also participated in the festivities in Paris, mingling with celebrities. He even posted pictures of his encounters with Snoop Dogg, Elizabeth Banks, and others on social media. I must admit, I’m delighted to see Meloni, Hargitay, and others enjoying themselves so much, and while I may feel a bit envious, it makes me happy to see them living their best lives.

It’s hard not to highlight the amazing experiences the athletes are having. Many appear to be especially excited about meeting the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team, affectionately known as “the Golden Girls,” who won gold in the all-around team event. Even before the games started, Jordan Chiles got a shoutout from Michael Jordan. It’s truly heartwarming to see the amount of support these women, including Chiles, Suni Lee, Simone Biles and others, have been receiving. They are making their country proud, and they certainly deserve this moment in the spotlight.

It’s likely that top athletes will encounter several famous personalities prior to the closing of the games. Any additional celebrity encounters are bound to create exciting viral content. While there may be many more celebrities showing up during that time, I can’t help but think that this meeting with Mariska Hargitay might not be surpassed in terms of charm.
