AC Cars Releases Limited Edition AC Cobra GT Coupe

As a die-hard motoring enthusiast with a particular fondness for classic British sports cars, I must say that the unveiling of the AC Cobra GT Coupe has sent a thrill down my spine! With a legacy spanning over 120 years and a rich racing heritage, AC Cars has always held a special place in my heart. The fact that this new model pays homage to the iconic AC A98 coupe is just the cherry on top.

One of Britain’s longest-running automobile manufacturers, AC Cars, has achieved a fresh milestone by introducing the AC Cobra GT Coupe – the first production coupe in their 123-year history. Inspired by the legendary 1960s Le Mans racer, the AC A98 coupe, this new model signifies a substantial step forward for the brand, embodying its evolution.

The AC Cobra GT Coupe is developed using an upgraded version of the foundation from the regular AC Cobra GT Roadster. This street-oriented car honors AC’s racing legacy, marked by its successes at the Monte Carlo Rally and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The coupe boasts an aluminum frame and a carbon-fiber exterior, blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary manufacturing methods.

Remarkably, this model of the vehicle is only available as a limited edition Clubsport, with only 99 units produced. This special track-focused variant packs nearly 800 horsepower from its V8 engine, engineered to provide an unforgettable driving adventure. In regular production, the coupe will offer two engine choices: a naturally aspirated V8 producing 450 hp and a 720 hp supercharged version.

David Conza, CEO of AC Cars, expressed his pride and excitement about unveiling the AC Cobra GT Coupe. By blending the classic AC Cobra design with modern construction methods, AC Cars is venturing into new territory. The exclusive Clubsport Edition promises an exhilarating driving experience, whether on public roads or racing tracks.

The design of the AC Cobra GT Coupe resembles that of the GT Roadster, featuring the Kammtail rear structure from the AC A98 coupe to minimize air resistance and boost performance at high speeds. With a wheelbase of 2570mm and measurements of 4225mm by 1980mm, the latest coupe preserves an almost ideal 50:50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity.

Manufacturing will commence at AC Cars’ cutting-edge UK workshop later this year, marking the start of deliveries for the Clubsport Edition towards the end of 2025. Interested buyers can reserve their preferred models, either the GT Coupe or the Clubsport Edition, via the manufacturer’s official webpage. The base prices for these luxurious vehicles are set at £325,000 GBP, which translates to around $416,000 USD.
