Volkswagen and Ford Expand on Partnership with New Transporter Van

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for versatile and robust vehicles, I must say that the new Volkswagen Transporter and Caravelle lineup has certainly caught my eye. With its iconic design, modern drive systems, and an impressive array of powertrain options, this seventh-generation Transporter feels like a level-up in the world of vans.

Volkswagen has unveiled the initial images of its upcoming Transporter and Caravelle models, jointly developed with Ford within their ongoing collaboration. This seventh generation of the Transporter line encompasses panel vans, Kombis, flatbed trucks, and passenger variants like the Caravelle, all boasting improved features and advanced driving technologies.

The new Transporter and Caravelle models, inspired by their predecessor T6.1, now come with diesel turbo, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric power options for the first time, giving Volkswagen van customers a wide variety of choices in engine types. They can opt for one of three different diesel turbos, a 171kW plug-in hybrid setup, or electric engines with varying outputs ranging from 100kW to 210kW.

The Transporter series is offered in multiple versions designed to cater to diverse requirements. These range from cargo-focused panel vans, enhanced panel van Plus with extra seating rows, passenger-oriented Kombi models, and a double cab variant featuring an extended chassis. Notably, the Caravelle now offers up to nine seats and is available in basic, mid-range Life, and premium Style editions.

Notable advancements have been achieved in aspects such as space, weight, and towing power. The Transporter now boasts a payload capacity of approximately 1.4 tons and a towing capacity of 3 tons. Standard amenities have been upgraded, including LED headlights, a digital dashboard, and sophisticated driver aid technologies. The PanAmericana model, renowned for its robust construction, is included in the collection, showcasing off-road trims and unique interior accents.

At this moment, we don’t have details about the price or release date, but it is anticipated that you will find them at your nearest Volkswagen dealership soon.
