Porsche Honors Racing Legend Jo Siffert with Exclusive One-Off 911 GT3 RS

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours racing virtual Porsches, I must say that the unveiling of this one-of-a-kind 911 GT3 RS is nothing short of a dream come true. The fact that it’s a tribute to Jo Siffert, a legendary figure in the world of motorsports, only makes it more special.

To honor the legendary Swiss racer Jo Siffert, Porsche has revealed a special edition 911 GT3 RS. This exclusive model celebrates not only Siffert’s enduring legacy but also marks the 55th anniversary of the first victory of the Porsche 917 at the Österreichring race track.

On August 10, 1969, Jo Siffert, in conjunction with Kurt Ahrens, achieved the first international 1,000-kilometer race victory for the Porsche 917. This car was originally perceived as difficult due to its rapid speeds and sophisticated aerodynamics. Their triumph at the Österreichring sparked the 917’s winning streak, a legacy that is now celebrated through this unique 911 GT3 RS model.

The automobile’s style is a tribute to the 917 model, sporting Pure White body with striking Viper Green accents, mirroring the color scheme of its racing counterpart. Notably, the number 29 (Siffert’s race number) is vividly presented on doors, hood, and valve covers. Intricate attention to detail has been given in recreating original sponsor logos from Bosch and Shell.

Inside, the 911 GT3 RS showcases a racing-influenced design featuring Black and Guards Red Race-Tex materials. Helmet motifs are embroidered on the headrests, while Jo Siffert’s signature adorns the center console cover and the leather key case. The car key is artistically crafted with Pure White and Viper Green accents.

Jo Siffert’s family played a crucial part in developing this car. His racing son Philippe, who had previously driven Formula Ford and Formula 3 vehicles, along with his grandson Jérémy, contributed to its design. Philippe was thrilled by the project, praising the exceptional workmanship and attention to historical detail that turned the Porsche 911 GT3 RS into a distinctive homage.

Crafted by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur through their custom-order program, known as Sonderwunsch, this tribute car is set for display at Swiss Porsche centers in August 2024. Following this, it will be the main attraction at the “Auto Zürich” trade fair from November 7 to 10. Porsche announces that potential buyers may have a chance to be selected at random during these events, with further details expected to be revealed then.
