Grace Van Patten, Jackson White Face More Drama, Toxic Dynamic in Hulu’s ‘Tell Me Lies’ Season Two Trailer

As a dedicated fan who’s been through my fair share of tumultuous relationships, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and nostalgia watching the trailer for Tell Me Lies season two. The college drama, based on Carola Lovering’s novel, seems to have mastered the art of capturing the rollercoaster ride that is young love – with all its secrets, lies, and heartbreak.

If the trailer for season two of “Tell Me Lies” is any clue, there will be more emotional turmoil and unresolved mysteries for characters Lucy Albright (played by Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (portrayed by Jackson White), as their college lives continue to unfold.

In the upcoming episode of the Hulu series, Lucy and Stephen reunite at college following a heated summer split. Despite not speaking, they seem to revert back to their intense, unhealthy relationship pattern. However, this time Lucy might seek revenge on Stephen for hurting her, while also striving for personal redemption.

Lucy develops a bond with a fresh romantic interest, portrayed by recurring guest actor Thomas Doherty, while Stephen carries on with his deceitful actions. Meanwhile, Lucy and Stephen’s circle of friends encounter their own challenges, navigating through the aftermath of season one’s events.

The main cast members, including Van Patten, White, Cat Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Alicia Crowder, and Tom Ellis, are set to reappear in the second season. Doherty will be a frequent guest star.

The TV show titled “Tell Me Lies” is based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 book with the same title. Lovering has a role in guiding the production of this series.

Following its premiere in 2022, the series garnered predominantly favorable feedback from critics. In the words of Angie Han from The Hollywood Reporter, it was “an unapologetic indulgence that offers delightful moments, yet balances these with a dose of raw truth to leave a subtle, pensive taste.”

Meaghan Oppenheimer takes on both roles of executive producer and showrunner. In partnership with her Belletrist co-founder Karah Preiss, Emma Roberts, and Matt Matruski, they all produce under the Belletrist label. Laura Lewis and Stephanie Noonan serve as executive producers for Rebelle Media, while Shannon Gibson and Sam Schlaifer also take on these roles. The Hulu Original series is produced by 20th Television. (Simplified and paraphrased version)

Tell Me Lies season two premieres with two episodes on Sept. 4 on Hulu.
