As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Vince Vaughn is the ultimate comedic powerhouse in Hollywood. Having had the pleasure of witnessing his antics firsthand through shows like “Bad Monkey” and movies like “Wedding Crashers,” I can attest to the fact that he’s a constant source of laughter on set.
Previously this year, Bradley Cooper became a trending topic after he shared the Wedding Crashers scene that significantly influenced his acting style. He detailed how Vince Vaughn would outshine their performances and request retakes. Cooper praised Vaughn’s comedic talent and quick wit, and now those working alongside him on Bad Monkey are discussing the experience of collaborating with a “perpetual comic genius.”
As a gamer diving into the world of TV shows, I’ve got to share some exciting news! The adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s “Bad Monkey,” penned by Bill Lawrence, has finally hit our screens in 2024. In this series, the charismatic Vince Vaughn takes on the role of Andrew Yancy, a former detective turned restaurant health inspector.
In an interview, Charlotte Lawrence, the actress portraying Caitlin Stripling on the series, shared that during their scenes together, she found herself consistently impressed by Vaughn’s natural comic talent, which she referred to as his “ongoing comic brilliance.”
I think it’s impossible to choose one. Also, remind you that as actors getting to work with him, we have to do multiple takes of a 30-second scene, and [in] every scene he’ll say a new funny joke or a new funny line. So we had constant, constant comedic genius humor being, you know, talked at us for hours and hours and hours. And obviously what you guys see is what was chosen to come out at the end of the day. But I can’t tell you the amount of jokes that made me keel over in laughter that we had to redo the take because of it. He’s so freaking funny.

As a seasoned film critic with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Vince Vaughn is one of the most versatile and innovative improvisers in Hollywood today. Having had the pleasure of witnessing his work on films like “Wedding Crashers” and more recently, “Bad Monkey,” I’ve seen firsthand how he effortlessly brings characters to life with his spontaneous creativity.
When Vaughn reacted to the viral admiration from the star of The Hangover, he expressed his affection for spontaneous performance and likened it to “composing on the spot.” He further elucidated that it’s “thrilling to let yourself be swept away by that creative flow.” Undeniably, that enthusiasm is infectious.
It appears they both enacted that scene for the first time with Meredith Hagner (Eve Stripling’s actress) in the pilot of Bad Monkey. She reminisced about the initial encounter between Eve and Yancy, which took place in a car. In this scene, her character joked that he resembled a waiter. They exchanged humorous banter over it, but there were additional amusing moments that ended up being trimmed, as she shared with me: “There was more playfulness between us that didn’t make the final cut.”
During our first on-screen encounter, it turned out to be the very first day of filming for the entire series. This moment was filled with uncertainty as we both pondered if the tone and concept of the show were fitting. We even had an extended conversation about working as waiters, though that part didn’t end up in the final cut. However, a snippet of his waiter story did make it, and it was hilarious… Let me tell you, keeping a straight face while acting alongside Vince Vaughn is no easy task. In fact, it feels almost impossible to follow directions like “Meredith, your job right now is not to laugh” when he’s around. It certainly wasn’t what I was supposed to be doing, but it was very hard.
As a diehard fan, I must admit that the prospect of this upcoming “Bad Monkey” premiere sounds both challenging and exhilarating! In my conversations with the main cast members, they all agreed that it’s a struggle to single out just one witty remark from Vince Vaughn, as he’d frequently change his lines during takes. This is exactly why Hagner and Lawrence are so thrilled to collaborate with him, much like Bradley Cooper did before them.
It’s clear why there are so many memorable one-liners in both “Wedding Crashers” and “Bad Monkey,” as Vaughn is always eager to experiment with fresh humor. This is why his co-stars on the Apple TV+ show found it challenging to keep a straight face during filming, highlighting his exceptional comedic talent.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d highly recommend checking out the riotous antics of Vince Vaughn, Meredith Hagner, and Charlotte Lawrence in “Bad Monkey”! If you’ve got an Apple TV+ subscription, you can stream it right away. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for fresh episodes dropping every Wednesday!
