The Killer: Nathalie Emmanuel & Omar Sy Navigate Workplace Hazards in Action-Packed Clip (EXCLUSIVE)

As a lifelong action movie enthusiast who’s seen more than a few flicks in my time, let me tell you this: I’ve never been so captivated by the thrilling fusion of high-octane action and subtle humor as I am with John Woo’s latest masterpiece, “The Killer.”

If you believe your job is challenging, consider this: An NBC Insider has an exclusive sneak peek from the film ‘The Killer,’ directed by action mastermind John Woo (known for ‘Face/Off’). This clip demonstrates that a desk-bound day might not be as tough as it seems.

In the initial video clips, Nathalie Emmanuel‘s character Zee (from the Fast Saga) and Sey, a French police officer portrayed by Omar Sy in Jurassic World, seem to underplay the thrill associated with their respective jobs. As they engage in a cordial dialogue, director Woo cleverly switches to intense sequences depicting stealthy killings and the pursuit of justice, injecting humor into the contrast between their calm conversation and action-packed scenes.

In this scenario, both characters find themselves on different sides of legal boundaries yet they both have a knack for defying rules and championing justice for the oppressed. It should be noted that Sey remains unaware of Zee’s true persona as he perceives her as an ordinary American diplomat in the video clip provided.

“In the movie’s behind-the-scenes notes, Emmanuel describes the relationship between Sey and Zee as a playful camaraderie. As they grow to understand one another, it becomes clear that they have a lot in common, much like two peas in a pod.”

According to Sy, John Woo revolutionized the action movie genre with his innovative use of slow motion and unique visual storytelling techniques for action scenes. However, upon closer observation, it’s clear that he’s also a romantic filmmaker who emphasizes the themes of love, friendship, and loyalty in his films. This is demonstrated through subtle looks and chemistry between the actors.

What is The Killer about?

In a fresh, up-to-date adaptation of Woo’s 1989 film titled “The Killer”, this story unfolds in current-day Paris. The protagonist, assassin Emmanuel, also known as the “Queen of the Dead”, finds himself in a dangerous predicament after sparing a blind young woman (Diana Silvers) during an assignment at a nightclub. As a result, his handler Finn (Sam Worthington) and their ruthless French gangster superior, Jules Gobert (Eric Cantona), set their sights on Zee.
