Noah Hawley Expands the 'Alien' Universe With Upcoming FX Series 'Alien: Earth'

As a seasoned gamer and ardent fan of the Alien franchise, I must admit that the upcoming TV series, Alien: Earth by Noah Hawley for FX, has me absolutely thrilled! With over four decades of this iconic saga under my belt, it’s not every day we get such a promising prequel to Ridley Scott’s original masterpiece.

As “Alien: Romulus” hits theaters, the Alien universe is eagerly anticipating an expansion, this time from Fargo’s Noah Hawley. Hawley has crafted a new television series for FX called “Alien: Earth”. This upcoming show is rumored to be a prequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror masterpiece and will take place on Earth.

As a dedicated Alien fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming TV series that brings together stars like Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarash Gourav, Kit YOung, and Timothy Olyphant. This show promises to transport us back to the original film’s events, following a 30-year gap since the franchise’s inception. The latest addition to the series, Alien: Romulus, set between the first two films in the fictional universe, was recently released. Excitingly, the Hawley’s series is expected to play a significant role in expanding the Alien universe, especially with the positive reception of the newest film. The series will unfold events 30 years prior to the first film, and as confirmed by Hawley himself, it will steer clear from the plot points of the Prometheus duology. It’s worth mentioning that all projects in this franchise thus far have featured the Xenomorph alien, except for Prometheus.

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Hawley expressed his positive anticipation for an upcoming FX series. He spoke about his pride in the show, which is currently undergoing post-production, stating, “It may consume the next decade of my life.” When asked if the series might premiere in 2025, he replied, “We’ve finished filming. I’m now busy with editing. There’s a significant visual effects component that requires time. However, I couldn’t be more satisfied with the show we filmed. If viewers were looking for a TV series set in the world of Alien, I believe I’ll deliver something unique.”

Look out for more information on the upcoming FX series Alien: Earth.
