As a gamer who grew up with a VCR instead of a walkman and spent countless hours glued to my family’s old CRT television, watching Pixar’s masterpieces become an integral part of my childhood memories, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming “Incredibles 3“. The first film was like a breath of fresh air back in ’04, and the sequel was the perfect continuation that left me craving more.
The much-loved superhero family is making a return to the cinema, since it has been confirmed that ‘Incredibles 3’ is being developed as an upcoming Pixar film.
In 2004, the debut of “The Incredibles” left an indelible impression on the globe. The animation was top-notch, living up to Pixar’s usual high standards, and the narrative, music, and characters all contributed to Pixar’s iconic status. Fast forward 14 years, and “Incredibles 2” hit the screens, eventually outperforming any other Pixar film (until “Inside Out 2” surpassed a billion dollars). While it may not rank among Pixar’s finest works, it’s still an excellent addition to the series.
Currently, it’s clear that the long-awaited third installment of “The Incredibles” series is now being developed. While details are scarce at the moment, the prospect of discussing and getting thrilled about it is undeniably enticing. Here’s what we have learned thus far.
What Is The Incredibles 3 Release Date?
By August 2024, there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the release date for The Incredibles 3. Given that it was only recently revealed at D23 2024, it wouldn’t be surprising if a release date is still pending.
It seems we won’t be seeing it anytime soon, as Pixar doesn’t have any movies scheduled for 2024. However, they do have a lot in store for the coming years. Expect the science-fiction film titled “Elio,” the much-anticipated fifth installment of “Toy Story,” an original film named “Hoppers,” and a Disney+ series called “Win or Lose.”
2027 seems to be the soonest possible release date for this movie, given its history. However, considering how long it took to make the first sequel, I’d advise you to exercise a great deal of patience.
The Incredibles 3 Cast
In terms of the cast for Incredibles 3, it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. However, given that all the original actors returned in the sequel, it’s possible we could see them reprising their roles once more. Here’s a reminder about who lent their voices to whom in the main cast of the previous films:
- Craig T. Nelson as Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible
- Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl
- Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr
- Huckleberry Milner as Dashiell “Dash” Parr
- Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius Best/Frozone
- Brad Bird as Edna Mode
Furthermore, in the sequel, Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener were added to the voice cast as Winston Deavor and Evelyn Deavor/Screenslaver. This means there’s a chance we might hear their voices once more.
There’s a chance we might encounter the vibrant antagonist, “The Underminer,” once more, as he made an appearance at the end of “Incredibles” and also at the start of “Incredibles 2.” This could add an exciting connection between the films. However, it’s important to note that nothing is officially confirmed yet. All we can do is be patient and wait for any updates.
What Is Incredibles 3 About?
It’s still uncertain what will happen in Incredibles 3 , as it has only recently been announced. However, we do know that at the end of Incredibles 2 , Helen (Elastagirl) managed to capture Screenslaver (Evelyn), preventing her from damaging the reputation of all superheroes worldwide with the intention of outlawing them. The family, along with other super-powered individuals, helped regain legal status for supers everywhere, and the Parrs were once again proud to be heroes.
For the upcoming story, I’m unsure of how it fits in, but here’s what I can confirm: We have a lot of expectations for Incredibles 3, and I would be content with absolutely anything, so long as it maintains the same level of excitement as the previous films.
Brad Bird Will Be Back
The only officially confirmed detail from D23 this year is that Brad Bird will once again be at the helm for the third film. Notably, Bird was responsible for the last two Incredibles films and directed the underappreciated gem Ratatouille. He also directed The Iron Giant, a movie often hailed as one of the greatest animated films ever made.
Honestly, this makes me that much more excited for Incredibles 3, and I will be watching.
