Jamie Lee Curtis Announces Filming Wrap Date on Disneys Freakier Friday

As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of experience in the industry, I must say that the upcoming film “Freakier Friday” has me genuinely thrilled and nostalgic at the same time. Having grown up watching Jamie Lee Curtis grace our screens, from her iconic role as Laurie Strode in Halloween to her unforgettable performance as Helen Lory in Trading Places, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu with this new project.

On last Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis celebrated the final days of filming for “Freaky Friday” sequel, a long-anticipated Disney project. The Academy Award winner shared on social media that they will finish up just a few more days of work next week, marking the end of production. In her Instagram post, Curtis praised Lindsay Lohan, her co-star from the 2003 remake of “Freaky Friday,” with whom she will again share screen time in this sequel.

“This coming FRIDAY is undeniably extraordinary, some might even call it Freaky Friday or Cryday. However, there are still a couple days left next week, but things are wrapping up. As I arrived at work this morning, I couldn’t help but notice the multitude of people gathering together to film the movie in California…”

2023 saw Curtis, the exceptional actress from “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” receiving her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and cementing her iconic status as the lead of the “Halloween” series. In a heartfelt social media post, she acknowledged her “Freaky Friday” co-star with high praise.

“I’m deeply appreciative to my dearest movie daughter, @lindsaylohan, whose contribution was essential in making this film. Without her, it wouldn’t have been possible at all. She generously gave me a Suzie Kondi shirt after I admired hers, and I wore it today as a tribute to her. Now off to the wig and set. Many thanks for the love you’ve shown us, @disneyd23! It was nothing short of extraordinary!”

Freakier Friday Star Dishes About Body Swapping Again

It feels like just yesterday when filming began for Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan on Freakier Friday back in June. However, this production wouldn’t have been realized without the creative mind of author Mary Rodgers, who wrote the 1972 children’s novel, Freaky Friday. Disney initially adapted this story in 1976 with their movie version, showcasing the body-swapping escapades of teenager Annabel Andrews (Jodie Foster) and her mother Ellen (Barbara Harris).

In a departure from the original, the 2003 remake of “Freaky Friday” took some creative liberties, notably renaming the characters Tess and Anna Coleman instead of Curtis and Lohan. However, this revamped version proved to be a worldwide success, with earnings of $160.8 million (as reported by Box Office Mojo) against an initial investment of just $20 million. The actress who played the lead role, Lindsay Lohan, is thrilled about her upcoming big-screen reunion in “Freakier Friday”. She recently shared details about this new film in an interview with ABC News’ Nightline (as seen below).

As someone who has spent over a decade working in the entertainment industry, I can confidently say that Fridays on set are always special. They’re not just your ordinary workdays; they’re filled with an extraordinary blend of love, laughter, and excitement.

For me, it was particularly special when I stepped onto the Disney lot. And stepping back onto the Disney lot isn’t just like reliving Freaky Friday; it’s more like returning to The Parent Trap, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, or Herbie…

Lohan continued:

1. “Each moment feels special to me. When I arrived, I felt strangely reminiscent of my childhood days.”
