Beyoncé’s Pours Up New Business Venture: Whiskey Brand SirDavis

As a gamer who’s been around for quite some time, I’ve seen my fair share of celebrity ventures, but Beyoncé’s latest move into the world of whiskey with SirDavis is something truly exceptional. Being a fellow connoisseur of fine spirits, I can appreciate the passion and dedication that goes into crafting a quality whiskey. The fact that she’s paying homage to her great-grandfather’s moonshining roots during Prohibition only adds to its allure.

Grab a glass, Beyoncé has poured up a new business venture.

Music legend Beyoncé has collaborated with Moët Hennessy, a company under the umbrella of luxury giant LVMH, and renowned distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden to debut SirDavis – a whiskey honoring her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue. The familial bond is strong as Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z are parents to a son named Sir, while Jay-Z himself owns Armand de Brignac champagne, another brand owned by LVMH.

SirDavis is a long-awaited passion project, as stated in a press release published on Tuesday. This project was personally initiated by Beyoncé, an avid fan of Japanese whiskey, who approached Moët Hennessy to assist in creating a unique flavor profile that aligns with her vision for the perfect whiskey.

The “Drunk in Love” singer, who seldom speaks publicly, expressed an invitation for others to share in the sense of power and self-assurance they get from savoring high-quality whiskey. When she learned that her great-grandfather was a moonshine maker, it felt like her passion for whiskey was destined. SirDavis is a tribute to him, creating a bond between us through a fresh heritage. By teaming up with Moët Hennessy, we’ve developed an exceptional American whiskey that honors tradition while offering drinkers something fresh and distinctive in the category.

According to information, Hogue, Beyoncé’s paternal great-grandfather, was a farmer and moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. He reportedly hid whiskey bottles within the hollow spaces of cedar trees for his friends and family to find and drink. These stories are believed to have given Beyoncé a sense that the brand was meant to be. In addition, it’s said that Beyoncé contributed her creative artistic direction to designing the bottle, which has ribbed glass, a black medallion, and a bronzed horse statue as homage to her Texas heritage. Interestingly, SirDavis is produced, blended, and bottled in Texas, and the brand’s headquarters are located in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston. The product will be available for pre-order before its official release in September at a price of $89.

“Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s chairman and CEO, expressed his pride in SirDavis, a remarkable American Whiskey we are particularly proud of. He also noted that it symbolizes the enduring commitment to skill, tradition, and progress that both LVMH and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter share.”

Lumsden also voiced his opinion on the whiskey that was anonymously submitted to spirits competitions before its release. It excelled in the American Whiskey class at the 2023 SIP Awards, outperforming over a hundred other entries in the category. “With SirDavis,” Lumsden said, “we aimed to break free from traditional whiskey norms and bring something innovative to the table. The special choice of grains and unconventional secondary aging in sherry barrels helped us create a one-of-a-kind flavor profile that is uniquely SirDavis – bold yet sophisticated.”

Beyoncé runs a variety of successful ventures including the hair care brand Cécred, the athletic wear line Ivy Park (previously in partnership with Adidas), and her media company Parkwood Entertainment, as well as some other businesses.
