As a seasoned gamer who’s seen my fair share of cinematic tales unfold, the news of Anya Taylor-Joy‘s latest project has me absolutely thrilled! The actress, with her chameleonic acting skills, is about to dive into another captivating role, this time as Grace Bernard in “How To Kill Your Family”.
Anya Taylor-Joy is returning to screens on Netflix.
The well-known actress, recognized for her performances in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Story’, ‘The Menu’, and ‘Last Night in Soho’, has been cast as the main character, Grace Bernard – a murderous figure – in the film adaptation of Bella Mackie’s novel titled ‘How To Kill Your Family’.
Previously, Anya Taylor-Joy was at the helm of the Netflix chess thriller “The Queen’s Gambit,” which made it into the top 10 list in a stunning 92 countries and reached the No. 1 spot in 63 nations, including the U.K., Argentina, and South Africa. In just its first 28 days of release, the show drew in an astounding 62 million Netflix accounts.
As a gamer, I step into the role of co-executive producer on an eight-episode series, crafted by Sid Gentle Films Ltd, who’ve also brought us the captivating ‘Killing Eve’. My storyline revolves around Grace, the estranged daughter of a wealthy man who deserted her and her mother. When her mother was on the brink of death, he turned a deaf ear to her cries for aid. Seething with vengeance, I, as Grace, choose to mete out justice by eliminating each relative of my father, saving him for last.
The main scriptwriter of the series, Emma Moran, has previously worked on ‘Extraordinary’ and currently holds an executive producer role, working alongside Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, Lee Morris, and Sid Gentle Film Productions, as well as Taylor-Joy from LadyKiller.
“Ever since I finished reading the last chapter, I’ve been itching to contribute to the realization of this captivating tale. After a bit of discreet investigation into the brilliant Bella Mackie, I couldn’t be more excited to team up with Sally, Lizzie, and Emma. I can hardly wait to roll up my sleeves and dive deeper into this project!”
Mackie commented: “It’s been exhilarating to see the characters I created come alive under this exceptional creative group. Anya is an ideal choice for playing Grace; at times, I feel she understands her better than I do myself. Collaborating with Sid Gentle has been a delight, and meeting Emma has given me immense trust that the book is in capable hands.”
The news about this project was revealed during the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, accompanied by several other Netflix initiatives. More information about the cast and additional details will be shared later.
