Nintendo Ends Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’s Live Service, Prepares for Offline Paid Version

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the whimsical world of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, this news leaves me with a mix of nostalgia and anticipation. I can still remember the joy of my first virtual camper’s grand opening, the excitement of visiting friends’ campsites, and the satisfaction of filling my Market Boxes with unique items.

Nintendo has revealed that the mobile adaptation of their beloved simulation game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, will cease operation on November 28, 2024.

In simpler terms, you can enjoy Animal Crossing Pocket Camp at no cost, as it offers numerous optional in-app purchases. A new, paid version of this game is set to replace the existing subscription model.

In contrast to the newer edition, it won’t have in-app transactions; moreover, you won’t need a persistent internet connection anymore. However, your previous game saves from the older version can still be moved over using a Nintendo Account.

Starting from October 28, 2024, the monthly Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Club will no longer be available for subscription. However, if you have subscriptions like the Merry Memories Plan or Happy Helper Plan that run past October 28, you can continue enjoying their benefits until the service completely shuts down in November.

On November 27th, it’s important to note that Leaf Tickets will no longer be available for purchase. Since existing tickets can’t be moved to the newest version, players should make sure to use them up before this date.

I was thrilled to learn that I could transfer my existing game saves to the new version, just as they shared in the official announcement thread on X.

Although some are apprehensive, the shift to a solely single-player experience in the updated version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has raised concerns due to the removal of online features like Market Boxes, gifts, and visits to other players’ campsites. The revamped game will now exclusively offer a mobile-based, standalone Animal Crossing adventure.

The current version of Animal Crossing from Nintendo is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, released in March 2020. At present, no new Animal Crossing game has been officially announced by Nintendo. This, along with their decision to make Pocket Camp a one-time purchase offline game, has left many fans pondering about the future of this popular franchise.

Regardless of whether Nintendo will announce a new mainline, Animal Crossing, soon, be sure to stay updated with the latest news and announcements by following Gfinity Esports.
