‘What Is My Life Right Now?’ Zach Braff’s Hilarious Story About Going On A ‘Man Date’ With Rob Delaney That Involved Alligators

As a die-hard fan of quirky comedies and all things Florida, I couldn’t help but be thrilled when I heard about the filming of Bad Monkey in the Sunshine State itself. But what really took the cake was learning about Zach Braff and Rob Delaney‘s “man date” adventure on a swamp boat chasing after gators! It’s not every day you find yourself on a swamp boat with Rob Delaney, let alone discussing popsicles and missing limbs in between gator sightings!

Warning: Plot points from the third episode of “Bad Monkey” are discussed below. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can catch up by subscribing to Apple TV+.

In anticipation for the upcoming airing of Bad Monkey in 2024, I’ve been eagerly awaiting its zany shenanigans, as it’s set in Florida. What makes it even more intriguing is that not only does it take place in this Southern state, but they actually filmed it there too. During an interview with the cast about their Apple TV+ series, I inquired about shooting on location and was thrilled when Zach Braff shared a story about his “man date” with Rob Delaney, which surprisingly enough, involved alligators!

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the transformation of Carl Hiaasen’s Florida Keys mystery into a screenplay. In this intriguing tale, Zach Braff brilliantly portrays the role of a tipsy doctor named Israel “Izzy” O’Peele, while Rob Delaney breathes life into Nick Stripling. Interestingly, in Episode 3, we discover that these characters have ties to Eve, but they haven’t shared much screen time yet. However, during the filming of Bill Lawrence’s show in Florida, I learned from Zach himself that they spent a considerable amount of time together off-camera, even going on a fun outing together, as he fondly referred to it as a “man date.”

As someone who has had the pleasure of knowing Rob Delaney for quite some time now, I can confidently say that he is one of the funniest individuals I have ever encountered. Recently, we embarked on an unusual adventure together – a swamp boat tour in Florida, searching for alligators.

Apologies, sir, could you clarify? Initially, the plot left me puzzled, but upon reflection, it’s becoming clearer. So far, neither of these actors has had significant roles in “Bad Monkey,” suggesting they might have been exploring Florida between scenes. However, following the major revelation about Delaney’s character in Episode 3 and the introduction and demise of Izzy, I suspect their on-screen activities will intensify.

‘What Is My Life Right Now?’ Zach Braff’s Hilarious Story About Going On A ‘Man Date’ With Rob Delaney That Involved Alligators

In my humble opinion, it’s truly astounding to witness the kind of stories we can tell today compared to just a few years ago. As someone who has been in this industry for quite some time now, I can confidently say that shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking would have been unimaginable back then.

Also, as I said, they filmed this show in Florida…so anything can happen there.

In my chat with Bill Lawrence, the creator of “Bad Monkey”, he shared the various wildlife regulations they adhered to during filming. Given Florida’s reputation for alligators, it felt appropriate that Delaney and Braff embarked on this enjoyable excursion together.

However, I wish they would have filmed it, I would have loved to see their lil off-set adventure.

Currently, I can’t wait to continue enjoying “Bad Monkey,” as I hope for more hilarious escapades similar to these on screen.

The opening three episodes are packed with Florida antics, given that a monkey is a significant character, the plot centers around an arm kept in a cooler filled with popsicles by Vince Vaughn’s character, and a golf cart ends up submerged in water. Therefore, I suspect there will be further shenanigans as the story progresses, and I hope it includes Braff and Delaney collaborating more closely.

In the course of narrating this tale, the director of A Good Person pointed out that his co-star possesses impressive improvisation skills, much like Vince Vaughn, and that the director himself is a seasoned comedian. Consequently, I’m genuinely looking forward to what we can expect, given this behind-the-scenes anecdote alone.

Bill Lawrence is recognized for developing some of Apple TV+’s top-tier shows, and with a cast brimming with comedic brilliance who enjoy bonding over activities such as alligator sightings, it appears that Bad Monkey is also following suit. To find out what unfolds next in this entertaining Florida mystery, you can stream new episodes on Apple TV+ every Wednesday.
