Matt Bomer Says ‘White Collar’ Reboot Script Is “Fantastic” and Pays Tribute Willie Garson

As a dedicated White Collar fan with countless hours spent following the escapades of Neal Caffrey and his team, I can hardly contain my excitement about the potential revival of this beloved series. With Matt Bomer himself praising the script as “fantastic,” it feels like we’re one step closer to seeing our favorite white-collar criminal turned FBI consultant back on our screens.

Although the official renewal of the series “White Collar” has not taken place as of now, there exists a script for it, and star Matt Bomer describes it as simply “outstanding.”

The actor who was nominated for an Emmy for his role in “Fellow Travelers” shared his thoughts on the upcoming remake with “People,” expressing his aspirations for its successful launch.

“Bomer stated that the script perfectly aligns with the series we managed to carry on for six seasons. It truly seems like he continued the story exactly from where we last ended.”

He went on to say, “This method is both smart and entertaining, and it feels natural – it reunites all our beloved characters as a tribute to Willie Garson, Diahann Carroll, and others we’ve lost since the series ended. This was something very meaningful to me. If you were a fan of the show, I believe you’ll find this particularly enjoyable.”

The responsibility for continuing the revival lies beyond Bomer’s authority level, he pointed out. Yet, he expressed enthusiasm about potentially reappearing as the FBI consultant Neal Caffrey and reuniting with his fellow actors, Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen.

“The Maestro actor mentioned that a significant part of the experience was spending time with that particular group of people. He’s still friends with DeKay, who played FBI special agent Peter Burke in the show. They worked tirelessly on the production, but it never felt like labor. Instead, it was an enjoyable, liberated, and open space where they could develop and discover their characters effortlessly.”

Previously, Bomer spoke candidly to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the White Collar reboot and his lack of control over its development. Yet, the series has thrived on Netflix ever since it joined their streaming service early this year.

“He mentioned that might encourage certain people,” he expressed, further noting, “Willie Garson was not just a friend but a very close one. His passing is undeniably painful for us all, and I deeply miss him. Above everything else, I’ve been pondering, ‘How can we carry on without Willie?'”

Although the actor from Magic Mike expressed doubts about the show’s revival without its iconic character Mozzie, portrayed by Garson, creator of White Collar, Jeff Eastin, came up with intriguing ideas that honor him. These proposals have ignited Bomer’s enthusiasm to rejoin Neal once more.
