Jamie Lee Curtis Celebrates Freakier Friday Wrapping With ‘No Filter’ Selfie While Reflecting On Lindsay Lohan Sequel

As a fan who grew up with the original Freaky Friday, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming sequel! The prospect of seeing Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite on screen after so many years is like finding out that your favorite pair of jeans still fits – pure joy!

After more than two decades, it’s almost unthinkable but we’re finally getting the much-anticipated sequel of “Freaky Friday”. What makes this sequel so eagerly awaited is the chance to revisit the on-screen mother-daughter duo from the original Disney movie, portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. The actress from “Halloween” is thrilled for fans to see the new film called “Freakier Friday” as she shares an unedited selfie to mark the end of filming with Lohan.

To think that Freaky Friday 2 was in the talking stages last year when Jamie Lee Curtis shared her thoughts on the possibility of a new movie being “a nice little revisit.” Then our dreams came true when Lindsay Lohan confirmed the Disney sequel back in March that’s making us crank up Pinkslip tracks and think twice before reading a fortune cookie. After a summer of filming, Curtis was happy to celebrate Freakier Friday shooting wrapped up in a “no filter” Instagram selfie below:

I’m confident that every drop of effort, every bead of perspiration, and every tear were justified when piecing together Freakier Friday. Judging by the adorable snapshot Jamie Lee Curtis shared with Lindsay Lohan last November, it seems their on-screen maternal-daughter bond remains intact. I can’t help but wonder how Anna and Tess’s relationship has evolved over the years since a mystical fortune cookie caused them to swap bodies. Experiencing life from another person’s shoes, however strange it may have been, helped them gain insight into each other’s lives and deepen their affectionate bond.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ post not only acknowledges Lindsay Lohan but also highlights the fresh talent joining the sequel such as Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons. Just as Freaky Friday launched Chad Michael Murray’s film career, it’s heartening to see this sequel offering a big-screen debut for upcoming talents too.

Not only is Jamie Lee Curtis happy about Freakier Friday filming wrapping up, but so is her co-star Lindsay Lohan. She posted an Instagram photo of her own thanking everyone for being a part of this fantasy-comedy film with her:

It’s quite plausible that the remake of “Freaky Friday” would hold significant importance for Lindsay Lohan, given her last Disney film was “Herbie: Fully Loaded” in 2005. With a long hiatus from Disney Studios during which she established herself professionally, it seems fitting to assume that this comeback must have been quite meaningful for her. Lohan has expressed how touching it was for her to reconnect with her Disney roots, as the family-oriented studio played a pivotal role in launching her career as a child actor and shaping her into the talented actress she is today.

As a longtime fan of the original “Freaky Friday” movie, I am beyond excited about the upcoming sequel. Having grown up watching Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis bring their characters to life, I can hardly wait to see them return in this new installment. It’s not every day that we get to see our favorite actors reprise their roles in a beloved film franchise, so I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be part of the audience for this highly anticipated sequel.

In a candid snapshot without any digital enhancement, Jamie Lee Curtis shares that production on “Freakier Friday” has come to an end, and she’s brimming with anticipation for everyone to catch the film. I have a hunch that we’ll all find ourselves reminiscing about the humor, emotions, and tears from the original movie, along with a generous helping of nostalgia. As we count down to the sequel in 2025, why not revisit “Freaky Friday” on your Disney+ streaming service?
