Everything to Know About SYFY’s New Series Revival

As a long-time horror enthusiast with a penchant for the macabre, I can hardly contain my excitement for SYFY’s upcoming series, Revival. Having spent countless hours delving into the dark corners of rural America through various horror narratives, I find myself drawn to this unique blend of farm noir and zombie genre that promises a fresh twist on an old favorite.

Straight from the critically praised comic books, SYFY will now bring to your television screens the chilling, new live-action horror series titled “Revival”. This series is poised to shroud the peacefulness and security of small-town American life with a haunting supernatural atmosphere.

Earlier this year, it was unveiled as an original series from SYFY, the network – titled “Revival”. This series is inspired by the Harvey Awards-nominated comic book title of the same name written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Mike Norton, which first appeared in the 2010s. Initially published by Image Comics, they describe “Revival” as a unique blend of “farm noir” and the zombie genre with a darker twist. This suggests that the upcoming SYFY series will delve into ominous themes.

What is Revival on SYFY about?

Everything to Know About SYFY’s New Series Revival

A significant aspect of the captivating narrative of Revival‘s comic series is the skillful way it intertwines a persistent veil of mystery within its chilling supernatural tale. Headed by small-town cop Dana Cypress, a single mom from Wisconsin who’s grappling with the loss of her own sister, Revival pushes boundaries by bringing back the dead and making them virtually indistinguishable as they coexist among the living: Even in their transformed condition, the “revived,” as the creators hint, seem and behave just like they used to.

Here’s the official synopsis from Image Comics:

One day in rural central Wisconsin, the deceased rose from their graves. It falls upon Officer Dana Cypress to navigate through the public attention, fanatical religious groups, and government lockdown that have arisen as a result. In a town where the living must adapt to those who are supposed to be dead, Officer Cypress is tasked with solving a gruesome murder. Every resident, whether alive or undead, could potentially be involved. This captivating ‘farm noir’ offers an innovative take on the zombie genre.

As crucial as my late sister Em is to the heart of the mystery in Revival, it seems she’s not staying deceased for long. It appears Em was murdered, but that’s just the start of another puzzle – understanding who killed her. To crack the case and bring justice for Em, I’ll need to dig deep and uncover the secret connections between my sister’s demise and the eerie supernatural awakening that’s stirred the town’s long-slumbering spirits from their Midwestern graves.
