Warner Bros. Discovery has hired Shauna Spenley to lead its streaming marketing efforts.
Spenley is set to assume the role of Global Chief Marketing Officer at our direct-to-consumer services, taking over from Patrizio (Pato) Spagnoletto who will depart later this autumn. Her responsibilities will encompass managing marketing strategies, growing and retaining subscribers, conducting research, and overseeing other crucial areas for our streaming platforms such as Max and Discovery+.
She will report to JB Perrette, CEO and president, global streaming and games.

Spenley, who was previously the president of entertainment at Riot Games and before that held a VP position for marketing and publicity at Netflix, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards WBD and pride in the progress made with Max. Although this marks the start of a new chapter for Max, he believes it’s an opportune time to transition, confident that Shauna and her talented team will turn Max into a globally renowned entertainment destination.
