Ubisoft under fire over Star Wars Outlaws save file drama

As a longtime Star Wars fan and early adopter who’s spent countless hours immersed in the galaxy far, far away, I must admit I’m finding myself disheartened by the latest turn of events with Star Wars Outlaws. After the initial controversy over the ‘woke’ narrative, I was eagerly awaiting this shooter as a love letter to George Lucas’ world. However, it seems that even before its official release, technical issues and player frustrations are threatening to overshadow the game’s potential.

As a devoted fan, it’s troubling to see Star Wars Outlaws, my beloved franchise, finding itself embroiled in another round of turbulence. The initial murmurs that the galaxy far, far away was veering towards ‘woke’ with Kay Vess at the helm were concerning enough. But now, the Star Wars shooter is being criticized for a less-than-smooth launch, adding fuel to the fire.

Initially, there were expectations that minor glitches could be overlooked in Star Wars Outlaws, but numerous early reviews have highlighted significant game issues that seem to overshadow this tribute to George Lucas’ universe. Currently, Kay and Nix encounter a predicament larger than any cartel feud; players are being advised to erase their saved progress.

Without providing additional motivation for PS5 and Xbox users to take sides, it’s been reported that Ubisoft is requesting PlayStation 5 players to erase their game progress or saved files following extensive exploration in the Outer Rim.

“In order for you to fully enjoy the Outer Rim, we’ve updated the game to ensure everyone is using the most current version. If you were playing an earlier version and have been experiencing problems since the latest update, please know that we are aware of this.”

“We deeply regret any trouble this situation might have brought about for you. Kindly check if you’re using the most recent version of the game. Once confirmed, we recommend starting a fresh game to experience Star Wars Outlaws as our team envisioned it. Persisting with an older save may lead to problems and obstacles in your progress.”

It seems that the problem stems from Patch 1.000.002 update. Ubisoft has advised players to make sure they are running the most recent version of the game to avoid any issues. However, some players are still taking chances and intend to continue playing. Unfortunately for them, they will eventually encounter this problem and may need to delete their saved games.

It’s not hard to guess that those who spent $100 on the Outlaw’s Gold Edition, expecting early access before its August 30 release, aren’t pleased with the current situation. There’s no talk about compensation, so you can imagine the chilly discussions taking place in the game’s subreddit – colder than the frozen landscape of Hoth.

1. A frustrated player expressed, “I received an email this morning, if only I had known it earlier before playing 5 hours last night. Frankly, this game is pushing my limits of patience.” Another chimed in, “There’s no hint of reimbursement despite our payment for early access,” and a third commented bluntly, “Early access is nothing but a swindle.

Despite the rocky launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, marked by server problems, Warner Bros. compensated affected players with in-game rewards. Another player commented, “Even some in-game items or whatever would be great, but absolutely nothing. I might just request a refund because my interest to play has dwindled.”

For now, both Xbox and PC gamers can breathe easy, but we’ll keep a close eye on any further updates from Ubisoft. However, given the mixed reviews and potential problems that have emerged before the release of Outlaws, there’s a possibility that this highly anticipated Star Wars game could face a backlash from negative publicity, potentially putting it in jeopardy.
