Black Ops 6 players hate Warzone-ified Liberty Falls map

As a gamer with over two decades of Call of Duty under my belt, I must say that I’m cautiously optimistic about Black Ops 6 and its Zombies content, especially after the tantalizing reveals at CoD: NEXT. Being starved of Zombies for quite some time, it’s heartening to know we’ll be feasting on the undead once again, starting October 25th.

In the recent Call of Duty series, there has been a lack of Zombies content that left us craving more, especially after Modern Warfare 3. However, with Black Ops 6 on the horizon, we’re excited to indulge in some ‘human flesh’ gameplay. Call of Duty: NEXT has given us high expectations for new reveals, and we’re confident that we’ll be satisfied before the game’s launch on October 25.

Treyarch is planning to offer a full year of traditional Zombies gameplay, which could revive some of the enchantment we recall from the early days of World at War. Additionally, it’s confirmed that maps such as Terminus and Liberty Falls will be available, with another zombie-themed location set to debut by the end of 2024.

Liberty Falls reveal gets a frosty reception

It seems many players are expressing strong disapproval towards Liberty Falls. However, remember that a new DLC map is due by the end of this year, likely in December, and the launch map will reportedly feature an extensive number of side quests, potentially a record-breaking amount.

In the game CoD: NEXT, they really ramped up the Zombies content, offering players a first glimpse at Liberty Falls. As is often the case in the rich Zombies universe, this once peaceful Americana town has fallen into chaos. The trailer showcases comic book stores, bowling alleys, and a chilling church that seems to have been plucked straight from Stranger Things, adding to the nightmare.

It appears that Treyarch may have overdone it with Terminus. Despite the anticipation for the largest Zombies map on the Vietnamese island, Liberty Falls turned out to be smaller than expected. Fans who were cautioned beforehand have been expressing their disappointment with a flurry of L’s following the reveal.

Criticizing Liberty Falls as “unexceptional to the point of being monotonous,” the team has faced accusations that they have merely repackaged a previous multiplayer map and added some zombies for good measure. Given Treyarch’s reported four-year development process for Black Ops 6, the most severe critics are questioning why such a significant amount of effort doesn’t seem more evident in the final product.

Critics claim that Black Ops 6 has been impacted by the “Warzone influence.” Similar to how Modern Warfare 3 aimed to impress with a blend of open-world Zombies and DMZ modes, yet failed to meet expectations, some argue that contemporary Call of Duty games struggle not to capitalize on Warzone’s popularity.

1st Person: It seems to me that if someone dislikes Liberty Falls, it might be due to the resemblance of its design or atmosphere to a warzone merging with the zombies game.

Not everyone was against Liberty Falls, and with a reminder this is an early build of the map, there are some flying the flag of hope. One supporter cheered, “I don’t get the hate, I’m getting Shaun of the Dead vibes, it’s pretty cool. Oh well, Terminus Island looks dope too and we still have DLC 1 later this year, so plenty of flavor to go around, I’m sure.”

The community surrounding the game “Zombies” can sometimes be as unpleasant as the “Brain Rot” ammo modifier, yet it wouldn’t feel like Call of Duty without something to complain about. It seems that with Zombies games, they either need to be exceptional or they are considered the worst addition to the series. Regardless of whether you admire or despise Liberty Falls, we have great expectations that Treyarch can deliver a successful game.
